I'd give double that for that wheel all day long ;)

Had to take the old girl to save this cab. It was heading to the scrap yard. Has the section over the windshield I need and great floors. It has very unusual rust in the lower passenger firewall.

Going to cut the roof off at the post and re-weld it to my other cab. Guess I need to fill my Argon bottle :)

Sure get alot of thumbs up when driving the 72!

I gotta say, that's a cool picture. Looks like it could be an album cover or something.

Over the past few days I've installed a power steering setup and replaced one motor mount and the trans mount, both of which came out in two pieces. Hopefully my vibrations won't be as bad. I also found out I had the wrong crank pulley and the belts would not line up so I had to order another one from a board member. Can't wait to get this thing back on the road with the power steering, should be a lot more fun to drive.

well I ended up unpainting my cab today (which I just painted yesterday)... my bad. Blocked it out after the base was applied, just didn't look worth a darn so I had to see how bad my previous sanding job was.
Now I have to strip all that $100/qt stuff off.
Attachment 1057344
lessons learned...

Nice going, smoknbarrels.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

It's been five years since I've had the Suburban, I finally took it for a drive and put some miles on it after it's been sitting for fifteen years. I got the tranny shift linkage installed and adjusted the brakes on it today. The left front tire didn't look like it was gonna hold up so I didn't drive it far, I'm going to put a better tire on it tomorrow. I did find out the TH350 is healthy and shifted like it's supposed to, was glad it's working good. I can't try out the four wheel drive until I fix the hub knobs, gonna take awhile to find some new or used ones. The 454 is running like a top now, still have some exhaust leaks but that's an easy fix.

Did tons of patch work on the inner fenders basically taught mysel how to to the work. All the patches made from scratch took some time but they are done all the outer fender mounts were rotted out also remade reinforcement brackets, tore all the trim and badges off to check for rust I was happy to see none, next up is outer fender repair and tailgate.

Had the truck polished to remove the swirl marks and haze and even had the wheels completely polished... Earlier this week the wife surprised me with a new spray in bedliner .. It had a cheesy roll in bed liner but the shop removed it before they sprayed the new 1 ... Glad my wife likes my truck

Cool. Did you take any pics? I'm thinking I'll have to do this inner fender repair as well.

I did I'll post some pictures In my build thread when I get a chance. I not going to bother grinding the welds until it gets blasted who knows what's else I might have to patch on those.

Well the weather in Michigan was decent, not great but good enough. I have been pondering the thought of what is behind the aftermarket radio on my 72 since I have owned it. I could not take the suspense any longer and removed it. Nice surprise, no one hacked the hole.

I can't say the speaker holes in the door were so lucky. It looks like an angry beaver got a hold of it. Not to worry, the holes in the door will get new metal butt welded in soon.

I cannot wait for spring.

Today was an awesome day, drove my tuck around for the second time since I got it a week ago, got all the little things fixed and one quick rip, but today cruised around in the snow and just enjoyed it a lot.:mm:
