Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Replaced some horribly burnt out bad wiring. Im about to start choppin up the harness in the interior so I can further diagnose where this "leak" is occurring so I can stop the battery from being drained.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
r3skyline,
Are you sure there isn't a blown diode in the alternator? I had it happen and it drained the battery every night. Steven |

I have the next five days off from work and the National Street Rod Show is Fri/Sat and Sun. They are allowing cars and trucks up to 1982 now!!! the cutoff year used to be 1948. This years show should be huge!

Took my 65 back to the muffler shop and had a pair of All Star exhaust manifolds put on. What a difference from the "rams horns"... Moose is the man. Great job again. Thank you...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Honestly, I took mine apart on a hunch and found it.
There should be an alternator/starter shop you can take it to. You could also go buy a new one, try it and see if it works. If not, take it back. If so, problem solved! Steven |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Rich,
What gas tank is that? Steven |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Painted the front bumper which will go back on tomorrow. The bumper guards still need to be painted, but that's okay since they can't be added until after the bumper is back on the truck anyway. They end up very close to the Buick grille bar and if they were mounted to the bumper first, it's very likely the grille would get clobbered in the process.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks Mark. Mine have two square holes and the remains of spring loaded captive nuts in one hole on each guard. I bought them used and they look old and original, but who knows for sure. Maybe the 60-62 used weld nuts and the later ones used removable nuts? The guards are at chrome along with my bumpers so this should dress up the front of my 65 pretty nice.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Picked up all new poly bushings for the rear suspension(autozone) and ordered a coil spring retainer kit from eckler's.
cleaned out all the parts stored in the cab and put them in labelled boxes. Finished removing the door post and cowl bubble from the salvage yard panel. Also, sat on the bare cab floor and acted like I was holding a steering wheel and made several vroom sounds before my son stopped me from looking like an idiot. :) Steven |

Had some custom stainless exhaust installed in my 64 GMC.
Hooker headers, 2-1/2" S/S exhaust with "H" pipe, Flowmaster 70 series mufflers with tailpipes exiting in front of the rear tires. Looks and sounds fantastic, a nice throaty rumble without being too loud. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Picked up the flatbed surround C channels my buddy fabbed up (didn't pay a dime for them).
They look great! 12 guage 5"x1.5". Four 8 foot pieces. Need to pie cut at the corners, bend and weld the surround together. I am so stoked! Also, did some more wire wheeling on the frame. With a little luck, The frame, rear axle housing and trailing arms will be painted this weekend. Steven |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got one trailing arm, track arm. both motor mount saddles and the clutch arm painted last night. installed bushings in trailing arm today.
Photos to follow... Steven |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Unfortunately, my water heater burst so I spent most of the day cleaning up the mess and installing a new one.
But, I did get all of the suspension parts updated except the coils and installed the bushings. Here are a couple of pics: http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/DSC_0014.jpg http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/DSC_0011.jpg http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/DSC_0013.jpg I really like the hammered look. Next up, painting the springs, rear frame half and rear end. Steven |
