yOU KNOW I kinda wondered since you were using a wiring kit if there wasn't already something for the fan.. but I was put off by all the questions, I guess the obvious questions are sometimes the overlooked ones... Still need to connect the fan curcit to a sensor to turn it on automaticly when the temp goes up.. A switch in the cab is not recommended as you we all forget Ha Ha.. and turned on all the time is not good as it will over cool the engine especialy at night in the cool air.. Just my 2 cents. G

Fenders are ready and hanging on the wall. It was easier to work on the engine with them off. I will post a pic of them for ya. ;)

Thanks for the input. I'm going to ground the relay inside and use the one outside to do the switching. There shouldn't be anything wrong with that, right. I brought the engine up to temp and it worked in that configuration.

No progress these past 2 days. I have had a head cold the past few days and need a diaper on my nose. ;) I did work on my customers mustang tonight since it was all over head work.

that should work fine.. just use a sensor to turn it on and off.. makes life a lot easier.. Being where you are located I would use a 185 or 180 sensor just because you have more heat then I do here in the north. I use 190 or 195 and an LS we built a year ago used a 210, My mechnic buddy said some cars use even higher. that would worry me a lot.. 195 on my 396 seems to be just right. Thats what they orginally came with I was told.. Hey I know about the head cold had a touch of something going around here a couple of weeks ago, running at both ends, headackes,runny nose, cough, 4 days of Help me Help me....... LOL:haha::haha::haha:

Alan I was rereading your post , what do you mean by "ground the relay inside... """ Why don' t you just ground it to the screw/bolt/bracket that it is mounted on.. :????:confused::confused::confused:I guess I'm confused.

Shannon threw these fittings on his order and they did the trick. So, if your running a Summitt radiator with an auto tranny you will need them.

Vern I have no idea where the door seals came from. I bought them from a guy that went out of business. There were no names on the package only a part number. I google searched the PN and nothing came up.

The fender to cab seal is home made from a trunk weatherstrip. It worked really nice.

When I mocked up the front bumper brackets I didn't have any front sheet metal on it. I don't know what happened, but I cut the wrong bracket to clear the powers steering box. No big deal, just need to cut the other.

No other progress to speak of, I've been watching too much TV.

Thanks, there's more to come I'm sure.

I need help figuring this out. The 89 S10 serpentine setup calls for a 6 rib belt. All the pullys have 6 grooves, but the belt is not fitting the alt, PS or AC. It looks like it is too wide. The crank pully is good. Has anyone seen this and if so how did you fix it?

Alan, a friend of mine had a simular issue on his small block and just went to o'reilly's and got a 5 rib belt. Has been on there for a couple of years with no problems...

I shredded one on my 454 and it was an alignment issue. Eventually the pulleys will take care of that extra rib;).

I called O'Reilly's today, and the guy said he will go in the back and check. He came up with nothing. I've been doing some googling for a 5 rib that is 96.125" long replaceing the Gates K060956. I haven't had any luck neither. I'm going to keep looking. I thought about running the engine and gently use a razor knife to cut one rib off. i see all kinds of things going wrong. :lol:

I went out tonight and took the tension off the belt and tried to get the belt to set right in the pulley. It didn't work. I don't want it too shred and beat down my inner fenders. ;)

Alan, is your grille painted the same color as your roof or is it painted silver? Can't really tell for sure from the pics. I'm going to paint mine silver when it gets warmer, until I can afford a chrome one. Also are you painting a gray stripe down the side between the side mouldings or leaving it body color? Oh and the truck.... is straight up killer!!!

It's painted the same color as the roof. I am going to paint the same color between the mouldings on the side. BTW Thanks

Today I wanted to drive it on the road. First I played around with the new advance timing light. I have a total of 36* advance with the distributor vac disconnected at 2500-3000 rpm (no tach). It ended up being 10-12* advance at idle. After talking to Ronnie he said I need to bump the timing on up to 14-16* and try that. It is a dog starting off.

I discovered that some of my pulley's are 5 rib and not 6. I pulled the belt off and took a razor blade to it. Most of one rib was already cut thru. I think I still need to tinker with it the belt is not centered on the idler.

I was wondering why my generator light never came on. I figured I'd start with the diode in the Alt circuit. I removed it, turn the key on and the light came on. Then started it and light went out. Then turned it off and everything worked great. I guess the idiot light is enough resistance in the circuit to keep the engine from running with the key off. Is that right?

I worked on getting the timing set today, I feel like I was getting it better then the fan quit and almost over heated it. The relay was clicking, but no power was getting to the fan. While trouble shooting it it started working again.

Then I pulled the gauge pods out and sawppped the fuel gauge wires and now it's showing 1/4 tank.

I also swapped the wires on the speedo where the dash lights and the hi beam indicator was reversed.

While under the dash I pulled a muscle in my neck.

I was closing the door to quit for the day and the door latch broke and wouldn't latch, dang repops.

Kind of a productive day. ;)
