Thanks guys.

I would too, but life moves on and I have seen something that I have not actually seen that’s come back into the market.

It’s not a Chevy, but it’s quirky and rare enough to draw my attention.

Here is a post from 2007

Something from 2007 in my life.

HERE: http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/...-german-museum

I had to dredge it up for a different reason and thread for a guy looking for a family car. http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/...can-family-car

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y19...udi80front.jpg

So just reinforces my preference for slightly unusual stuff.

I love Russian and Eastern Bloc cars.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

How time flies.

Bought it more than 10 years ago.

And my taste in slightly weird, certainly practical Cars has not really changed.

1963 Ford Taunus Transit.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrimkqplk.jpg

Would love an 80’s style Bedford or Chevy Dayvan or panelvan.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

So today the one Bootfair was slow, and only half a field.

The second, larger one was filled with pink sh!t and nothing of interest at all.

Still, I managed to buy this roll of upholstery vinyl leatherette for £7.00 or $10.00 and have it planned for the Blazers possible replacement

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshueezfjm.jpg

Ford wagon was 20p or 25cents

I still remember the Pontiac LeMans wagon from a few years ago...... really liked that.

And maybe should have bought it, still, too late for regrets.

https://youtu.be/mc-6QAvT-bc

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psz7vlectu.jpg

Found mate @CraigRK a small Meccano bike and sidecar for 50p

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psfiyn1gwm.jpg

So home early.

Haul included these bits.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psclaxgmrm.jpg

Bunch of Lesley Matchbox cars and trucks, no idea why, just needed them.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pss0s0gnmi.jpg

Wagon and Mercedes Benz may be my favourites

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psk7klnfr0.jpg

Big Union Jack blanket thing is ideal for rear of Blazer or a picnic, and at £1.00 a no brainier, already washed and hung out.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pspxqcd9kb.jpg

Shell fuel Bowzer will go to St Louis in September for Dennis’ gas station.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshai7iny4.jpg

Cooler bag and six freezer bricks was £1.00 for Sally, as were three boxes of tea light candles.

So nothing much but a few bargains.

Meanwhile on UKGSER the guys are trying to figure out the possible replacement for the Blazer once it sells.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswows8ulx.jpg

Next job, cut hedges today.

Grizz1963 06-15-2019 05:25 AM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Not as unrelated as it may seem.

Remember the roll of vinyl Leatherette I bought last weekend?

Unrolled it yesterday to see just how long it is.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psluol1zht.jpg

Well, more than twice what I thought, so at £7.00 for the roll, makes it cheap.

This is double so x2

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3nkmt1za.jpg

And some more, you do the maths.......

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7fucmjt2.jpg

Adding it all up, comes to 38 foot by 4 foot or in modern measurement 11.6 meters long and 1.450 wide.

Colour is a bit deceptive at this distance and angle.

Beer cans for colour perspective.

My friend Dennis has been hampered by the amount of rain in Missouri this year, but managed at last to cast the island for his Shell gas station yesterday, and again, it started to rain just as they finished the job.

He also finished an English sign, which in the USA means Burnouts

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psihyddypx.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psxdpomzdc.jpg

Almost done, final flatting was due.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psaxwynakq.jpg

The Blazer was parked up outside, sideways on my drive yesterday just in case someone saw it and was interested.

You never know.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2l8blqbl.jpg

And finally, how the day ended here last night.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psn489ub3v.jpg

Waiting for @Disasterbus to get here in half an hour.......

Should be a good visit.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Just adding these two random clips.

Blazer still for sale, and more importantly, tyre kicking etc.

One clip of wasting fuel on my drive.

https://youtu.be/8E-Kz9IEays

And this one made this morning when mate Kerry came to drop off some stuff for me.

I had to force him to drive the Blazer (NOT)

https://youtu.be/rGRgA7KsufU

The guy is a gentle driver.

Grizz1963 06-16-2019 10:16 AM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Got a photo texted by Sally yesterday when Kerry had come over to visit.

She was headed home to walk the dog etc.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8sx3ynhq.jpg

Of course......

@Disasterbus brought gifts.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrbxrb1el.jpg

Unpacked and sorted the contents of the boxes.

First lot.

All of these service books and magazines available FREE for Collection at my place near Hoo St Werburgh.

Please PM if interested. Can post at your cost for post and packaging.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqbkfsduq.jpg

The rest of the stuff........

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshxo6fv32.jpg

All the spray painting bits, including airbrush kit, available FREE for collection only.

Keeping these bits

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuzbr0itx.jpg

And of course a bunch of plates, a couple will be headed overseas tomother collectors.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psa61ffzl7.jpg

My absolute favourite.

Screwed up,plate from his Mustang.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psazwzduel.jpg

Lastly, into my pile of joy.

Couple of knobs.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psbcklzucg.jpg

Dennis sent some more updates on his gas station build.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Father’s Day sucks.....

Unless you are a father or have one.

Bootfairs were both small.

This meant having to go slower and looking deeper.

Sally on camera duty it seems.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psiwj1jf1u.jpg

First blood to me, with a new, unused leather belt for one of my work suits.

Shortly after Craig got a turn.

Fully functioning traffic lights, or Robots as they are known in South Africa

Seller£5.00. Craig £4.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psu8eqump5.jpg

Next up, three complete units for £7.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psav6nwsez.jpg

Then Sally saw this balance bike for her grandson. Seller: £5.00 Me: will you take £4.00

Used, but like new.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pspohevb13.jpg

Retail price for these are a bit more.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pscmqkiybd.jpg

Craig again. £2.00 for a mixer tap he plans to use at his caravan camping site with a used kitchen sink that came out my kitchen 8 years ago.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqp9ibxnn.jpg

20p for Craig’s collection of small tools.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pspuk3gupu.jpg

Seller:10.00 it’s a bargain, got brass cap. Craig: Offer him £8.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psyxcsardj.jpg

So back home a final pic.

Tap fittings 50p
Two tyre irons for Sally’s son £2.00
Gruffalo mug 50p
4 steel skewers £1.00
3 small Turkish bowls 50p
Work tie for me 20p
Savings tin for Sally’s grandson 50p
3 rolls of yellow masking tape £3.00

You find the coolest stuff over there at the Boot Fairs . Good luck on the sale of the Blazer , cant wait to see what you come up with next . I have been Downsizing my toys and Peddle Cars lately to kids that will play with them instead of me just looking at em . Still collecting Trucks and parts though .

Last night was Copperfields foe Americans and Hotrods.

And dinner too.

Starting up, and pulling the Blazer out front, and then Sally and I driving over toward Gravesend made me grin madly.

Ready to Rock n Roll.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psie01q0je.jpg

On the Bypass I was motoring along at 70 and saw a guy in BMW M3 pull next to me, blow his horn and thought WTF W@nker, when the Thumbs Up came through his passenger side window.
That made us chuckle, I think Sally is still getting surprised at the random attention it draws.

Pulling in

Ricky’s Lightening

Richard and Sally’s Bruiser.

Darren’s Ford Pop looking diminutive

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0c5j8x3o.jpg

Full house.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pscgu4qklh.jpg

Loved this, in fact it created a bit of a storm.

Ex USA Serviceman’s truck, no papers put it on a Q plate when he sold it.

Loads of people came, but due to weather, most in their moderns, not getting shiny cars wet.

As mentioned before, what a great group of car guys.

2019 USA Road Trip Tickets have been purchased !!

So we are flying into St Louis, Missouri again.

The anchor points, and only fixed part to the whole trip will be arrival and departure dates.

We will be there for Labour Day and Dennis’ Birthday

Remember the Glider bench Craig and I managed to snatch for Dennis on the second half of the trip? Along with some Shell chairs.

As found

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqvxf6rdv.jpg

Loaded

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps30xrhekp.jpg

Back home.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psli5ns0ci.jpg

Dennis sent me this pic last night.

Glider got blasted and Powder Coated.

Looking smart.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pse2l9f5lk.jpg

So it looks like I will have a place to sit and drink a beer.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Busy weekend.

Worked late in London Friday.

Yesterday Sally and I cut back all the hedges, weeded the beds, trimmed shrubs making the garden look a million dollars as they say. She had brought along Bear, her dog so he was happy too.

By 4pm she left to clean up and and get the dog home.

Back by 6pm and then we headed out to meet friends for dinner at the Turkish place.

No regrets there, everything was magnificent as usual and the beers were cold.

Such an undiscovered jewel.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps54m8o7vu.jpg

Back home by 11.00pm and a rubbish night later up by 05.30 to go to a Bootfair and Breakfast Meeting in the Blazer.

Back seat drivers have their uses

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshumbnzwi.jpg

Parked up at the Bootfair, For Sale signs up, just in case, you never know,.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psmaxqm3fx.jpg

One of the sellers at the Bootfair.......

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuo1dizxp.jpg

Seller had a small pile of Ford 105E Anglia parts for sale and some bits I did not recognise.

I have his details if anyone is interested.

PM me please.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstmt9ckgd.jpg

Selected to only go to one Bootfair as it was the Kent Breakfast Meeting.

Included two packs of Jubilee clips at £1.00 per pack, some soft toys, Star Trek toys, razor blades and a lovely plate that cost me £2.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psyusupgsx.jpg

Hand puppet bird for Sally’s grand sons story telling, camel for the dog and weird blue thing for me. (Don’t ask)

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8975nyj0.jpg

Plate for BBQ spatchcock chicken.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

After my Bootfair walkabout, I headed over to Sevenoaks to the Kent Breakfast Meeting

Most of the usual suspects were there.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps54s2ddlj.jpg

Loved this home made roof lining in the Ford Wagon.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshmwbye55.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psxvepd16e.jpg

Loads of beautiful cars there again.

But my personal favourite was this Buick Skylark.

Looking decidedly dinky next to the Blazer.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psivnqpwkz.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psgufyxwyg.jpg

Yup..........

I need one of these.

But it is not for sale

Sadly.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psav1otnmz.jpg

Weekend over again, steak dinner later.

Being on various interest forums, from motorcycles and adventure riding to garage forums and much in between I do mix with and am exposed to, but also get noticed by many.

This week this was a PM from Australia

I love the idea and even more the fact that people like Gary want to share what they have.

Imagine 14km or 8 plus miles of Autojumble stalls.

Heaven I say.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjp2zqg2w.png

Maybe Australia should be considered . @gazza thinks its a good idea.

The world is full of them.

But cannot do much till Blazer finds its new home.

Weekend on us.

Grizz1963 06-28-2019 04:41 PM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Spent a total of £6.00 on the Blazer today.

Mate Craig had gone over to Dez in Essex to collect some stuff, including a Rallye wheel that had come from KevfromWales at the end of last year.

So he then delivered it when he collected a few things from my place.

The wheel and disposable tyre.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrydxtvbc.jpg

After they left, I toook the spare from the Blazer, fitted to an alloy and the new to me Rally down to Bradford’s garage on Mickey next doors recommendation

Nice job for Prozac the little van that still can.

Separated.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psla2k5otz.jpg

Then the steel was cleaned, ground and sealed afresh, and tyre from the alloy fitted.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psucdypxfn.jpg

Came home in Prozac, washed and surface prepped the Rallye steel wheel.
Masked it all off, then pulled an old T-shirt over it and tucked it into the masking tape.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psf8gpidbf.jpg

Poundlands best gloss black.

Applied.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psgaett50i.jpg

Both sides painted black.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9v7uujsp.jpg

Centre cap fitted back.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2zxky70m.jpg

And lastly, chrome trim ring set it off.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pses4rqyrw.jpg

Back in the rear of the Blazer

Yup, I like it for £6.00

Drinking time now.

Weekend.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Ohhhh, and a spec sheet for the car compared to the real estate to Blazer takes up.

Basically the biggest concern to me now, is how much space it takes up, going down the side of the house in reverse.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrruxgibh.png

Compared to the Blazer

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psia3doirh.png

Not a lot in it, longer, but narrower by 4” or 100mm

The length I can manage, only just.

Remember my street sign from the antiques mall on last years road trip??

Taken too long.

But this morning quickly sorted that out.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjbbgbxlf.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszxohjeui.jpg

Hot humid and not nice with the added bonus of Thunder Bugs.

Look at their size vs hair on my arm.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4y2h9rso.jpg

I was going to quickly replace the porch on the woodwork shed

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psqtkkb72w.jpg

But then Sally and Bear the dog came around and invited me for a walk.

Guess what won.

So off to the Isle of Grain.

Loads to see.

Dead

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7536mcmc.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssuaxvvef.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4m4lthcd.jpg

BBQ later.

Fitting as its said to be the hottest day of the year.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

The not a project is too big for the driveway. I was wondering why you were wanting to shift in on down the road.

You might want to price some replacement parts for a 53 54 Chevys Chevy. I think they have king pins and bushing front ends with roller bearing front wheel bearings. They can be pricey. They also have an enclosed drive shaft which is fun to deal with on clutch or trans. removal. But you have a shop with enough tools to overcome any mechanical obstical.

You may going to hot rod it with some new suspension like air bags and later model parts.
The main thing is like you say, "It makes you grin maddly"

Good luck in you quest.

So tend to see the less obvious

Truck collecting is a good thing.

Morning Vince,

Had a haircut yet :mm:

I think that with most of these old cars there is some risk in ownership so one just needs to calculate or decide whether it is worth having.

At this point I am still in the grinning madly camp.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

First blood at the Bootfair goes to mate @CraigRK ‘s Coca Cola collecting.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psij4b8jha.jpg

Next up was my turn.

1.450 meter wide of upholstery fabric in blue at about 20 foot or 7 meters.

Cost........ £1.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7ldcn43t.jpg

Add this £1.00 to the £7.00 for last weekends 38 foot or 11 meters of brown Leatherette and some rusty steel, and you my friends have a patina package.

Anyone got a cheap upholsterer or industrial sewing machine I can use...?

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psgaetmazj.jpg

Then on to the next find........

Bought from our own RetroRides’s Simon AKA Rmad.

Dragon for 10p

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psr2jherur.jpg

A few more items, Sally found 5 books for £1.00

My other good buy, bought as part of my future planning, like the fabric and Leatherette

£2.00 for a Vance & Hines Motorbike Fishtail slip on for my next build, some road rash, but well below market price.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshtscoqvm.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psyqbxhnqt.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psaok01b8c.png

Desperately wanted this really old sign for £15.00 but only bought a small knife from the seller.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psyqbxhnqt.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pszdb2ipvc.jpg

So there you go.

Total haul.

Coffee mug 20p
Electronic piggy bank 50p (online £8.00)
4 pottery bottles 50p each.
Two small Union Jack handbags 50p and £1.00 respectively
Red Wine bottle stopper Free, found in grass

Nipple cap tassels FREE, GIVEN BY A RATHER NICE STALL HOLDER.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswkqoxknm.jpg

And that was about it.

Nice therapy.
