Re: Post Your Ride 88-98 Trucks
quite the list! sounds a bit like my truck. Extensive list. Never touched the motor in mine yet though. 'Yet'. Motor and paint I want to do sometime in the next couple years. Rebuild what's left of the suspension, paint the frame, repair all dents and crap, rebuild the front and/or rear ends if they aren't by then, and if I still have IFS on my 97. And after the frame is done, body work and paint, or at least paint and body work before total chassis rebuild. Then maybe motor. Then maybe after all that, redo the interior, and it'd about be a brand new truck again.
Before too long though, I'm getting my 4.56 or 4.88 gears and a posi rear, maybe next couple weeks. Then a full replacement front bumper, something nobody has ever seen yet. Literally nobody. They haven't even made it yet, as far as I know, he's waiting til he gets mine and a couple other deposits. And with all the hundreds of ranch hands, many dozens of TDK's, Few dozen Outlaws and misc full replacements (yes, I'm not joking about those numbers. A lot of deer around these parts to run into. And stupid drivers on ice. And oilfield where we put on bumpers or at least grille guards) this one will stick out. Not only is it an "older" (nothing is old to me) truck with a full replacement, but it'll be a bumper that nobody around here has. Granted, it'll take but a few weeks for that to dump the bed. I'm not kidding. When I put straight pipes on my truck, like every other kid in town did. Then I got wheels and mud tires, a lot of people did. Before I got my lift, few people had lifted 88-98s. Then after I got mine, three kids I know, and a couple more 88-98s popped up lifted. Wheels? NObody in town had them. Now there's a 3/4 ton or two with them, and like three or four stock halftons with them, and somebody from out of town. Was going to get halo eye headlights with clear corners, and LED taillights/3rd light. The one kid with a blue 98 Chevy, 6" lift, got them before I did. It kinda frustrates me, I do something or get something unique, and in a couple weeks, that unique thing is showin up everywhere. So I'm hoping nobody copies my Iron Bull bumper. Go check them out, Iron Bull Bumpers. Look under Dodges and check out the Defender 8 style. It'll be like that pretty much. And if they do, I might do some triple/double rollbars. See if anybody copies that. Or if they copy the bumper, I'm thinking solid axle swap. None of the people I know with pickups like mine would be willing to do a SAS. Then, if worse comes to worse, 30" of lift and 54" Boggers. On 2.5 or 5 ton axles. Good luck is all I gotta say... that, and I hope it don't come down to that. I really don't want to look for 2.5t Rockwells, dish out for 54" boggers, and all that work. |

I traded a 94 Saturn wagon even for a 88 chevy 4x4 4spd and have been slowly but surely rebuilding the whole thing.
If anyone has parts to sell let me know I may be interested. http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/w...n621/Truck.jpg |
