Today was A little progress forward and some backwards. Found a 2007 Duramax Lbz motor and Allison 1000 6-speed with 118k. Some changes will need to be made in the engine compartment for the new motor. Looks like mainly boost tubes, water inlet and Air intake. The Lbz is rated at 360 hp compared to the lb7 at 235. Also no injector problems and no FICM (fuel injection control module). Motor came tuned with EFI live and 5 position switch. Tranny came with Trans-go upgrade. Cab is ready to be blasted now for final fitting of the doors and see what's hiding on the roof. I didn't have to go far to sell the old motor cause my buddy working on the truck is going to use it on a coe build he is doing. More to come. Thanks CHIZZLER

Hi,
Looks great, I run a LBZ too.
What are your plans for the oil pan? Just "pancake" it or keep the oil volume?
I think I need to shorten mine about 2"

Regards /Thomas

My oil pan sits just above the bottom of the frame. Maybe your motor is sitting lower in the frame then mine. Goggle 67 duramax camaro. You can see how he cut the oil pan and pick up tube. He did A great job. Lot's of pics.

Today's progress. Converted the allison trans from 4wd to 2wd. Overall pretty easy and messy. Also got the new down pipe connected to the turbo. Probably going to have to cut it and rotate the end to clear the frame and cab. Removed a bunch of random brackets and misc stuff and all the egr stuff on the motor. Cab is in the blast booth. Thanks CHIZZLER

Looks good. That is sure a bunch of extra stuff, got to be good for an extra 5hp lol. I moved my glow plug relay and everything else I could inside the cab to clean up the motor, do you have similar plans?

Going to put ECM and TCM under the dash. Maybe the glow plug module also.

Little update. Most of the cab was blasted and a lot of final welding done on fire wall, floors and other areas. Next will be blasting the roof. The boss is headed to SEMA today so hopefully back on it next week. CHIZZLER

Cab and the whole truck is looking great.
Glad to put a face with the name, wish there was more time to talk trucks but the swap meet was buzzin' with parts.
Will have to make it up to your neck of the woods for a swap meet one day.
I'd be willing to make a special trip up to check out Crew Max live.

UPDATE. Lot of lead came out of the roof. overall condition is good and with some welding and hammer and dolly it can be straightened out. Almost got the new motor mocked up. Had to slightly change both boost tubes, water inlet, glow plug module, oil fill tube and some other misc. Seems like there is more room at the firewall then the old motor. Started making A air intake with box to keep heat away from the filter. More to come. CHIZZLER

Looks really good Chizzler. Was the roof formed from 5 pieces?

Hey doug. The roof section is 3 added pieces through the middle connecting the front and back sections. They overlapped the original sections over the new middle piece. The new drip rail and filler piece appear to be hand made. Then cover it with a bunch of lead. We estimated a few pounds on the roof section.

It's all coming together. Are you going to weld the roof seams?

Well Happy New Years All. Hope its A good one. Progress has been slow with all the holiday stuff. Managed to get all 4 doors hung. Man the gaps are ugly. Most likely going to weld on every side of each door to make them better. Also took 8 jeep door checks and cut and extended them. Front doors are extended about 1" with 2 detents and rear doors were extended about 4" with 1 detent all the way open. I guess I forgot to snap a pic. Will Post A pic of the doors open after this weekend when I head back out to the shop. Thanks CHIZZLER

heavy ceiling grid wire (straight not coil) works well for welding to door edges gain about 1/8". Had to rework them on my crew.

Never really measured the whole thing. I think it would be same as A long bed plus 30".

Thanks everyone for checkin in. More to come CHIZZLER

More metal work. Closing up some major gaps around all door edges. The boss spent A bunch of time on these gaps welding 1/8" welding round. Hood was re-installed along with the cowl pieces. we installed the porterbuilt hood relocate hinges in the cowl. Test fit was all good. Hood was sitting very good and gaps were workable. We put the provided shocks on the hinges and now the passenger side is the same but the drivers side has moved the gap at the cowl forward and up. We switched shocks from side to side and nothing changed. Not positive yet how the shocks would be causing that on just one side. We checked and there is no binding or contact with anything. The opening closing action is very smooth and equal from both sides. Going to get back on it next weekend and see whats needed to get the hood to sit right. CHIZZLER
