I know. I know. The going is slow when you only get an hour or two at a time. It took two months to get to where I'm at on the bed mods. I've got some time this week so hopefully I'll finish it up.

No sorry I can't think of who that was. I'll let you know if I come across it. It shouldn't be difficult for a fabber such as yourself to mount a couple of buckets ;)

It's from an early 80's K5 blazer I found at the junkyard. The seats are still in it and I was thinking about picking them up too. They need recovering and I'll have to fab a bracket to mount them on. Have you seen any threads with K5 seats in a 4-5-6? I know I've someone has done it I just can't remember the screen name.

A little bit more got done today. I put the 3" square tube in to make up for the bed dropping down 3". The body lines look perfect still. I'm happy with how it turned out. I still need to drill the holes to mount them to the frame. Everything seems really solid. I'm going to figure out the where the stainless strips are going to bolt up and put the rest of the 1" square tube structure in.

So here it is. The truck and the time sucker. The MGA is going back together and ready for filler, primer and paint. It's going to wait till spring when the temperature gets back up to 65-70. I've got some body gaps to straighten a bit and some other minor metal bumping to do but for the most part it's ready for a skim.

I've made a little progress lately. I'm almost done with the false floor. It's taken longer than I planned but that's how it's been going lately. I just need two more 1" square tube supports to go between the wheel wells and then I'll be ready to bolt some wood in there. The only hold up with that is, I don't have the wood and can't buy it right now. I still need to level the bed out and shim it a little so the body lines line up. Next I'll be pulling the cab back off and stripping it to get ready for primer.

Thanks Joe. I forgot to say that the wood in there now is just for mock up. I also cut out the middle stake pockets since last time I posted. I haven't filled in the holes in the bed rail yet but it won't take long. The particle board is the same thickness as the wood that will be going in there eventually. I don't have the wood or the strips yet so I'll be looking for them if anybody has any recommendations. I'm looking for cheap and not oak. I don't want yellow-ish wood in there.

Cheap dark non-oak. That's a tall order. Brazian cherry is relatively inexprnsive considering it's used in hardwood floors. Not necessarily cheaper than oaks but not super exp like exotics.

The truck is looking outstanding!

Thanks guys. More to come. I'm going to get my hoist back from a friend so I can pull the cab and strip it. After that... primer.

very nice build , love the stance, did you ever think of cadillac srx seats they fit nice and are elec& leather& heated. these pictured are 06 and of couse you have to make 3 of the four brackets, but seat belts are taken care of . these are starting to show up in the local junkyards.you can pick them up for the price of upholstering old seats! two pictures with the interior and to without . these are all the way down and raise quite abit , as high as the stock bench.(if not more) I have the wiring diagram if interested -since you relocated your tank it a great fit w/ room for a huge speaker box and very, very comfy. keep up the good work . Eric

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Thanks Guys! Love the seats Eric. My only concern is that I'm 6'3" and won't have room to stretch out my legs or I'll be sitting too straight up with the seat moved back. Yours look pretty roomy though. Do you have a manual or auto trans? I've seen SRX seats before but never below 8-900 for the pair. That's a little steep especially since I'm thinking about buing a 5.3 and 4l60 trans now.

plenty of room for a big guy, I got these for 400.00 could not pass them up! looks like the 60-66 sould have came w/them . wondering what center console will fit w/ a four speed ???I try to use different parts than everyone else , just like that Trans/Am rear end - it fit great!! Eric

Thanks Chief. The short bed just fit what I wanted out of my build. I love the 63's with the long bed. My Dad had a 63' when I was growing up but got rid of it when I was in high school. If he had kept it I might be building that right now.

I've got to go. I'll be in the shop all day today. It's about time I get a shop day. Progress pics to come.

Your truck is looking good Eric. I've heard that about the ez wire kit connecters. My truck is going slow. I decided to sell the T-5 5 speed tranny and pull the 350. I'm talking to a guy here in Vegas about buying his 5.3 liter engine with a 4l60 trans. It came out of a rolled yukon and comes with everything. Engine, Trans, harness, ECU, AC compressor, alternator and only has 50,000 miles on it. I'm loosing count of how many time this build has changed. I have to get this engine swap figured out before I paint the frame so it will need to be settled pretty soon. We'll see.

Been there, this was to be a daily driver -than a race truck, now I have to drive it daily when its done and wished it had about 150 less horse power and auto. don't here that much do ya? its barley streetable if it rains I'll have to pull over . lit them up the other day pulling out of the garage . cops are gonna love me , its louder than a harley w/ drag pipes and still has mufflers . the cab rocks w/ the lope of the cam.(like a harleys front fender, hahaha)might have to put super-traps on it with the mufflers. but anything is better than driving a beat-up green 1999 dodge van.(that my family calls " the pickle ") wifes been pushing me to sell it and by us both some nicer wheels but.... finally explained to her that its not just a truck to me . its 5 years of my life , my favorite hobby, and my other ***** . sounds like she understands now.
