I used the existing top bolt hole loactions, and drilled the two outers for the wedge cuts ...

Next up was the additional tranny cooler off of the Roadmaster ... might as well use it. Bypassing the radiator all together, and running a large cooler in front is the preferred way, but my tranny temps in the burban should be marginal. I will be towing with it, but nothing more than 5000 lbs or so. - - - First step was mounting of the cooler. I didn't get pics of that, but basically I just reshaped the aluminum brackets to fit the core. Looks like it was made for it ... - - - http://i60.tinypic.com/2dhz43d.jpg - - - Rather than run rubber hose (that would be toooo easy), hardline is the answer ! - Second line in. This one received just a bubble flare on the lower end, as it will slip into the existing 3/8" rubber line ... - - - http://i62.tinypic.com/4ql9z.jpg - - http://i62.tinypic.com/25jgthh.jpg - - http://i58.tinypic.com/maxvo2.jpg - - http://i60.tinypic.com/2coq8sg.jpg |

Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Those lines look great.

Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Oh yeah...nice line bending! Really like a neatly routed and bent line...skill and patience.

Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
The Engine Oil cooler was next. The stock lines did reach, but were slacked tight ... so I wanted it a little more cleaner. New hardlines, some push-loc fittings, and we were good ...

You have some nice attention to detail!
|
Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Thanks for sharing those connectors Chief. I hadn't seen them before.
Great detail! |
Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Very nice work Chief.....especially on the tube bending. What brand of tube bender are you using? Do you like it? I need to get a better one.

I use a larger Matco one, and just picked up a smaller, Blue Point one for a little tighter bends on smaller tube. I will post pics and prt numbers |

Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
I wanted to switch it up a bit, and move to the back of the Burban, and start the mock up of the rear floor crossmembers and fuel tank.
Since I have extra crossmembers, I decided to add an extra one to the rear floor area behind the axle, to support the wood floor, the fuel tank and eventually the rear most seat .... - - Temporary shims for spacing the body mounts .... - - http://i58.tinypic.com/2rqbo15.jpg - - - http://i62.tinypic.com/2eek6l3.jpg - - - http://i59.tinypic.com/2rhb3ib.jpg - - - http://i57.tinypic.com/10nrnrb.jpg - - - |
Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
The "extra" crossmember was added by using these nut inserts (left over from some Aluminum truck box installs ... I save everything ;) ) This allowed me to place the crossmember in a different spot other than the factory holes.

Again, this plastic tank is from the Roadmaster, and has the built in fuel pump ... - - - http://i60.tinypic.com/iz2rlf.jpg - - - http://i59.tinypic.com/n1qxde.jpg |
Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
The tank needs to sit as high as possible ... so a little trimming of the front crossmeber will give me 2"... which is better than nothing

Trimming the crossmember to clearance for fuel lines, and raised section of tank ....

Thanks ....
That's the plan ! |
Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
I like the inclinometer pics...making it easy for us to understand.
Is the roadmaster tank fill on the left side? As always great work Chief. |
Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Any more progress Chief?
I'm sure you have a lot going on but thought I'd ask anyway. |

Hey Captain ... I sure do. Yes, the past year has been quite a wild ride. I am now sweeping up the dust that settled a couple of months ago, and filling the whole I was in !!
