Thanks. I was thinking that it would cut down on the vibration between the enclosure and the back wall. I was also holding off on putting it there just in case I screwed up making the enclosure.

Do you have any thoughts on your enclosure (pics). I have never made one and like wiring, I'm a little apprehensive. I'm not even sure what size speakers or amp I will be using. I had a link to a web site dedicated to fiberglass, but it is on my other computer that crashed.

Jugernot, well now your going done my alley, im addicted to car audio, so my system is going to be alittle more complex than most. but if you have any questions, regarding anything to do with the audio aspect ill be glad to help you in anyway. I have done in, i think a 71, all the same in that area, two 10's and a dual amplifier setup, turned out really great sounding, nothing special on the audio equipment. But in our trucks you dont need anything super powerful wattage wise to make them sound good.
The sound come alot form the quality of the enclosure, and the build material, like i sasid in previous post use sound deadening material inside the enclosure its self, spray in or sheet.

I just received a package from Putter's Custom Concepts and it looks great. He did an excellant job putting the dash essembly together with the Phantom Auto Meter Guages. He also did something a little extra that I will not be able to share until I get power to the dash. As I thought it looks great with the yellow.

Until today, I did not even know this thread existed. There is some truely amazing detail, craftsmanship, and patience involved in this build. I am proud to say I had some input on it (tailgate straps were mentioned and the cluster).
I can not wait to see the finished product.
Keep the updates coming and I will keep hanging on every post!!!!

Well I have been a little intimidated by the wiring I have to do. I look at all the wires and thought, "Where are the meatballs and garlic bread." So today I read the instruction manual and decided to give it a try. I seperated the wires into their groups, labeled them and routed them to the areas they need to be. Know I just have pick up some electrical supplies at the GoodGuys show, wait for all my switches to arrive and I can get started. I also install my tail lights.

I really really want to hear the engine this summer....................

Painless 18 circuit universal w/ GM column. Kevin tucked that fuse block into the no longer needed or used kick panel vent holes.

Well, I ordered some hedders from Sanderson and received them in the mail. I spoke to the salesperson at the recent goodguys show and he told me which ones to order, but when I put them on, the passenger side header hit the frame. So I gave them a call and they said I ordered the wrong ones. I'll be in San Francisco tomorrow, so I will run the hedders over to there shop and exchange them.

Other then that I have been trying to figure out the wiring issue. The Painless universal 18 curcuit harness does not have any of the teminal connectors. I have been trying to figure out which wire goes on which terminal on the ignition swith, light switch and etc.

I'm still trying to get the engine turned over by the end of summer. I will definatly post updates as I get thing completed.

It’s been almost two months since my last update. I have been working on the dreaded painless wiring harness under the dash. I have picked at it a little at a time and other then the wiring the lights for the heater control panel and cigarette lighter and radio, it’s done.

I also installed the steering column, radiator and condenser. I installed the vintage air unit, vents and tubes.

I don’t have any power hooked up to the seats, so I could not move the seat back any further.

I think I will work on the rear wiring and then the front. I have to buy my AC compressor and alternator before I get close enough to turn the engine over.

Nothing was done to the seats, just bracing on the underside of the cab floor. I would not recomend the seats for tall people.

I might install them, run some power and put them in the position I like.

Well I hope I dont have a problem. I just ordered some seats just like that from a 2005 Yukon Denali. Do they sit to close to the stearing wheel?

Without any power to adjust, I can say for sure, but in the position the seat are in now I would say yes.

If you go to page three of my build another member used the same seats. You could check with him.

Im a taller guy (6'3") and ended up selling my seats from an 06 truck, they just felt way to big in that cab, but they are damn comfy:)
