Well it was 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
I had to rework some of the items on my hood. The first problem I ran into was the bars that connect the hood to the truck. With the hood closed they ran into my hood support bars. This was a minor problem and all I had to do was notch them. The last 2 pics are a little hard to see but shows how they clear now. Kim |

Now for problem #2.
The first pic shows the hood as it starts to go through its cycle of being opened. Everything looked good until I got it on to the supports. With them pointing straight out it allowed the hood to rest on the fenders (sorry no pic). I had to redo the brackets to allow the hood to have enough clearance so it wouldn't hit them. Kim |

Out with the old and in with the new.
I'll get some pics of the hood on when I get a chance. It's kind of a pain when I'm trying to do it without someone else in the garage. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Sounds like you got it taken care of, now take two giant steps forward, or one or :lol:......looks good.....Jim

Just a few pics to update the hood.
This is how it will sit when opened. It is balanced on its own right now but I will make a rod to hold it so it won't move and hit anything. I still have to finish the runners. With the changes to the front they are going to need a little tweaking. The last pic shows the gap at the rear of the hood I will have to address. Kim |

Finally was able to make some progress on getting the tilt hood done.
I ran into a problem with my first set of tracks that the rollers were to ride on. The hood would close fine but bound up something terrible when I went to open it. It was a lot of trial and error trying to get it to open and close smoothly without hitting the fenders. I finally got something that works. Here are the pics of the final product. i still have to clean up the welds but I'll leave that for another day. Kim |

I wanted to come up with a simple rod to prop the hood open that I could store in the engine compartment.
Here's what I came up with. I used some 5/16 rod and put a couple of bends in it. I also got some bronze bushings and a couple different sizes of solid shaft collars. I little welding and I wont have a problem losing my prop rod. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
That is a stupendous amount of work. It all looks like it paid off. Great looking truck. I didn't like the bed until I saw it on the truck with fenders, and it looks pretty awsome.
