Well I got the tank installed.
Made a cradle out of some angle iron. The pics pretty much tell the story. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street

Picked up these nuts and welded them into the frame to hold the cradle.
Also made some hold downs out of 1" strap and 3/8x16 couplers. Drilled out part of the threads on the couplers and inserted some 3/8 rod. Ended up removing the piece of 1x1 I had in the middle for another piece of angle iron at the front. Kim |

A few more pics of it installed. I have some rubber strap that I cut protecting the tank.
I'm thinking about painting it. I've seen some powder coated that looked decent. Just have to plumb it all and do some finish welding and I should be able to paint my frame. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
That sure looks good.

Kim, Love the fab and install of the tank. If you ever have to remove tank, will you have to remove floor?.....Jim

Re: My 57 Pro Street
fab work looks great kim :D
looks like your running an exterior fuel pump from the lines coming out of the bottom sump. i have a no-limit tank with internal pump, i've had to drop the tank twice to service the pump in 2 yrs. i've heard external pumps are noisy, if i have to pull mine one more time; i will find out how noisy. :( i'd rather have a pump that works than a quite pump. i recommend against the internal pumps anymore. |

I'm using a Walbro 255 LPH in-line pump. The guys in the LS section recommended it. Going to run a pre-filter then the pump then a filter/regulator off a 03 Vette. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street

You're right I can't wait till I'm where you're at on yours. If I could just leave well enough alone I'd be farther along. I'm in the middle of putting hydraulics on it to operate the bed and also lowering my tank from its original position. After seeing it in for a while I decided it was to high. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
is that a KWIK AC bracket ?

A little update.
The more I looked at the tank the more I hated how high I had it sitting in the frame. I ended up putting it under it instead of on top. I got some weld in bungs and put them in and bolted the tank to them. The move meant some rerouting of the fuel lines and a smaller pre-filter which I still have to mount. It should still be hidden by my bed once its on. Kim |

I decided to use hydraulics to raise the bed.
Linear actuators just weren't going to raise it as high as I need it to go without a lot of trouble. I got a system that the low riders use for their suspension and adapted it to work for my bed. It should take the bed vertical without any problems. Kim |

A few more pics of the hydraulics. I had to re-route some fuel lines to make room for the hydraulic lines.
