Alan it is on the P sheet...after 7 days you have to scuff it and clean it before coating. Apparently it take 7 days for it to fully harden....so what do you do for a living?? I thought you worked in a paint shop, you just do the repair stuff and someone else paints? sorry, i'm nosey ;)

Like I've said before somewhere along the way, I'm a body and frame guy trying to learn as much as I can about paint. I've painted about 20-25 cars which doesn't make me a painter.;)

I'm liking it Joe. That looks good. Putting the attachment points on the other 3 sides would be great.

I was really hoping that Rokcrln was going to make/sell plans for a 63-66 tip-n-flip. I could make one myself, guess I'm just too lazy to do the legwork.

After going back through and looking at some of your semi recent pics, I think I need to break down and build a cab lift and a real dolly(instead of my wooden one). It would ultimately make my life easier.

*sarcasm/* Thanks Joe! As if I didn't have enough other stuff to do! *sarcasm\*

I look forward to seeing you make progress. Keep up the good work!

Looking good Joe. Thank you for the great OKC welcome you gave us on Thursday evening. I almost peed my pants.

I've never been to OKC in my life. We pulled into the hotel at about 9pm. I step out of the truck, set my foot on the ground, and the first thing I here is -"Who said you can park that POS there?!?!" Scared the crap out of me. It was Joe. Funny guy.

It was cool meeting you, and thanks again for the welcome. Too bad we didn't get more of a chance to chat. Don't forget to add "Hoser's Girl" to your list too... My lady's also a member. C-ya!

It was a pleasure meeting you and your lady. It is so nice to put a face with the text:metal:

I just added "Hoser's Girl", thanks for reminding me;)

Yeah come up to WA I have a decent enough front yard for you to pitch a tent and a bon fire. ;) Just North of Seattle that's if you feel the need to see Seattle.

It is nice to put a face on all these crazy comments. The trip back was alot easier without the load. We stopped to see (tried to at least) some sites and get some grub. OKC was very cool. WAY COOL! It was downright COLD!!! You guys can keep that wind. It gets cold here in SF, but there's something about the cold and the wind over there that's absolutely bone chilling! As luck would have it, we just missed some warm days. It was warm before we got there, and it was supposed to warm up now that we left. Jason's a very nice guy. He greeted us was some Oklahoma rose rocks. They're going in my lady's rock garden. Cool stuff! There are some very nice folks over in the heartland. If a road trip ever gets planned, I'd love to be a part of it.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build

Hey Joe,

Sorry I did not chime in sooner. Have been working on a garage cleaning project all weekend.

On the DPLF products, this is what I have done/learned. The 401 activator is for applying directly to bare metal, and requires a 30 minute induction period. Something in the chemical make up, changes in that 30 minutes to make it work properly. I never noticed the primer thinning out in that 30 minutes. I have used the 401 activator with all the DPLF I have sprayed.

The reducer, turns the DP into a sealer, instead of an epoxy primer.

If you haven't finished, you definately want to use the 401 on the blasted parts.

I have sprayed all of my primer with a $79 husky hvlp gun at about 35#'s of air with a 1.4 tip, un reduced, and have had no issues with thickness. The tip is a little small, and causes a slight orange peel, however I will be blocking this down, later in life.

My thoughts on your thickness issue are: Ambient temp too low, or too cold over night. Old product. Or maybe gun/compressor set up issues.

In my business I do epoxy concrete coatings, and the products I use, definately have a shelf life, they thicken up as they get older.

Hope this helps,
Nick

That would be like 2 years off. National board meet is next year. My truck has a lot to prove before it gets that far away from home. All the Okie boys should be done and broken in by then to.
