Re: The 283 Rebuild Begins
Hey Mac.....first off congrats on the break-in. I was wondering about the resonators you mentioned. What, where, and do they tone it down a bit? I have the 40's dumpin' in front of the rear tires and it about knocks stuff off the walls. I wouldn't mind turning it down to about 7.........thanx.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-17120/ But be aware - these are only 2" diameter inlets and 2.5" outlet, so if you’re going for big time street performance - forget it. My small block has a stock cast iron manifold and a two barrel Rochester, so don’t consider these particular parts if you’re pulling a big CFM carb. There has to be somebody else in the Summit line (or Jegs) that carry larger diameter units. The main effect of the resonator tips I have is it curbs that ‘drag strip’ thunder just a bit. Like I said before - when I ran the mufflers on the Chevelle I thought I was going to have to go to the dentist regularly to have my fillings replaced. Great for 1320 feet (oh, sorry: 1,000 feet now), but not for a hundred mile road trip. http://static.summitracing.com/globa...-17120_w_m.jpg Quote:

I try to read everything incase I want to steal an idea and adapt it to be different. But I do the same thing sometimes Scroll, words, scroll, words ooh ooh pictures, scorll, words, scroll, words. But on my circle of friends threads I make sure I read every word and study every pic.
Don't forget to swing the tranny guys place and get progress pics Mac.;) |
