Did you score some fenders and wheel wells or are you gonna patch them?

I had found the inner fenders a while back. just waiting till I found some fenders before I replaced them. that way I do it all at one time.
I drive past this little car lot all the time and have never stopped in before. yesterday he has a 63 GMC out front so I stopped. he wanted $1000.00 for it and it has transmission problems and some idiot sprayed gloss black paint on everything..even the chrome grill and bumper.. Anyway, I told the man I only needed some parts for this era of trucks. He said "whatcha need" I told him, and he said follow me. We went into the little shop he had and there sat a cherry 65 swb under clear plastic. it was his project truck. Now I know why he had the plastic on it, I drolled all over it.. he then said follow me...we then went out back to his little salvage yard and there they were 7 or 8 trucks lined up in a row. what a sight..:two: we talked for long time about trucks and stuff. I will get the parts I need this weekend. I took some crummy phone pics. But you kinda get the idea of what I meen. I will take some more pics Saturday. |

Buddy of mine came by last night to help me lift the hood and finish off the vanilla rum. :alky:
Then I dove on in and got the drivers inner fender removed. |
Re: 4D'S "63" GMC Build

Once I finish up with the drivers side and get it back together and then get the passenger inner fender off and out of the way I should have plenty of room for my fat butt to get in there and work:sumo:. I have new bolts ready to go in because I know I'll have to cut the old ones out. |

Re: 4D'S "63" GMC Build
Thanks Jason,
Bugeye, yeah besides the little dent up front its a nice fender |
Re: 4D'S "63" GMC Build
yeah..I am here in CA the "rust free state" and I ended up cutting two fenders to make one, after looking at the aftermarkets I decided that repairing an oem was better, those aftermarket fenders are junk! I collected fenders for the last 8 years from junkyards hoping to get a good one or two...they all ended up having bondo or rot or just too many dents to make a reasonable repair...what did you have to give for the fender??

Re: 4D'S "63" GMC Build

Ryan here (with the '66 GMC Suburban)..
Thanks for the link to your pics.. just one more question.. the rivets.. do you use a regular pop rivet tool? or something else.. its about the only part I'm stumped on now.. haha Thanks |
Re: 4D'S "63" GMC Build
They are real soft. I just used something hard and smooth on the head side and a center punch and tap lightly. Hope this helps
