Re: AD Truck Project
I met up for Scott for some bbq and then went and helped on his 62 for a bit today. He got the motor mounts and trans mount mocked up.
Then I came home and rolled the 52 out and turned it around. I did a little cleaning in the garage and then rolled it back in and put the front on stands. Scott came by and we started all the measuring for the 4 link and realized there was a bunch of brackets to be removed. So, tomorrow im cutting off the spring perches on the rear end, and removing the stock hanger off the frame. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-L...520-%25201.jpg |

I'm glad to see you taking advantage of the weather. I'm going to be pretty hooked up until November and won't be able to even touch mine until then. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: AD Truck Project
I have wasted plenty of other days, so it is time I got some stuff done. I have slowed down a bit on my racing and trying to only hit the points races and bigger events here for awhile.

I got the spring perches removed, and one of the stock rear shock mounts. I only managed to get 1 rivet out on the stock hangers. I may have to invest in another air hammer since mine is acting up. |
Re: AD Truck Project
Hangers are off, might start back laying out the 4 link tomorrow night and tack it in. Depends what mood I am in after work.

Re: AD Truck Project
Good progress Billy.

Re: AD Truck Project
I got the drivers side lower bar tacked in. I hope to check my measurements and get the passenger side bar on tomorrow night.

Re: AD Truck Project
Man that looks great billy!! What finish is on those wheels?, Really looks great. Man you jumped a whole page on me in just a few days! Nice progress and the rear 4 link looks great too.

Re: AD Truck Project
The coating is black chrome. It jumped because of big pics lol. I gotta get back on it this week. I stepped away from it for a few days.

Re: AD Truck Project
aheeem, Hi Billy. How you doin
|
Re: AD Truck Project
Not doing much lol.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
So, after feeling some shame for not doing anything with the truck, I worked on it for a couple hours today. I got the lower bars tacked back on, this time straight. I started looking to see where I will put the upper bars.
I also finally took off the old crappy rear bumper and put it out to the bermuda triangle (curb in front of my house). I bet it will be gone by later this evening. |
Re: AD Truck Project
Got more done than i have.. Nice :metal:
|
Re: AD Truck Project
Pictures Billy?!?! I used to enjoy the south side bermuda triangle, put the old grill on the curb and wait for the scap dogs to snatch it  good times!
|
Re: AD Truck Project
There is nothing new worth really seeing yet. I just have the bottom bars tacked on and one of the upper sorta laying in place. When I called Scotts they recommended 8.5 -9 inches of travel at rideheight for the f9000 sleeve bags in the rear. So, that was some good info.

Re: AD Truck Project
Dude im sorry but you need to hurry because i need some inspiration
|
Re: AD Truck Project
You just need some bbq lol. I put one wheel on the rear today and looked at it for awhile. Then came back inside. :)

Re: AD Truck Project
I got started on the step notch. I still have a lot of welding to do but it is at least together.

Re: AD Truck Project
Ohhhhhh someone got the fire re lit
Looks good ! :metal: |
Re: AD Truck Project
Somehow I smashed my throttle finger without even hitting it with the hammer. I am that damn good.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
did you buy that notch? looks good
|
Re: AD Truck Project
It is made by welders series. It is lazer cut and you just bend the 90s and then weld it up. Then once it place it has some other plates to finish up boxing the inside of it.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
figured it was laser cut by the looks of it. I'm familiar with welder series. thanks lookin good

Re: AD Truck Project
Nice work Billy, Thats a pretty cool notch. I did a similar one on an S10 years ago came in 4 pieces and you bend them at the slots and weld away. Never heard of welders series so I looked them up. They do have some cool products. So this will be ready by spring right?:smoke:

Re: AD Truck Project
^^ thats kinda what i was thinking....

Re: AD Truck Project
The notch welding may be done by spring. :metal:

Re: AD Truck Project
Man, we're working the same pace on getting these 52's back on the road. Bought mine 2(?) years ago and have made really slow progress as well. So slow that I'm beginning to wonder if it will see the road before 2015. I'm in the same boat as far as the financing part goes, but now I've got an 85 GMC 3/4 ton to fetch parts in. That is, when I'm not fetching parts for it, that is.....

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-i...520-%25201.jpg I got the passenger side step notch trimmed and tacked in a couple weekends ago. I did not get anything done last weekend. The frame sure does have all kinds of angles to it at the back. Between the natural kickup and the fact the frame gets wider from front to rear it makes things interesting. I guess the plan is that once the driverside is mounted and everything is welded in solid, I will bridge the notches with some pipe. Later down the road the frame will get some additional boxing. I have had some slows downs, mostly due to being lazy. Now that I have the proper length shocks on the back of my crew cab and the mounts are reinforced I can think more about the old truck. F18delta do you have a build thread? |
Re: AD Truck Project
I keep meaning to start one, but when I get home and on this site, there are pictures and links that work there that don't when I'm at work. So I get distracted rather eas....SQUIRREL!!!
