Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Is there a part number on the plastic?
Was it molded or simply folded over the radiused corners? Is the plastic under the same clips as the vinyl? Is ths plastic still supple? |
Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
No cardboard tank cover in '63?
|
Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
My white 63 , ( St Louis ) from New Mexico has the cardboard, but I can't confirm it original. Has the posi traction decal on it.
My blue 63 ( Oakland ) had one. |

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Just finished reading through this thread. What a bunch of treasure! I'd like a truck of this vintage, a long bed step side, but I'd take a fleet side. :D Maybe before I die. Not in any hurry.

This one would qualify without the drop kit, wheel change and auto trans lever on floor conversion. I don't mind the auto conversion, but do it right with a factory column! https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Chevro....c100667.m2042 Leave an original alone, IMO, cheesy wheels and a drop, don't increase the value of an already rare hard to find original 3/4 ton.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
The trailer, and the sellers business, tells me he is a flipper. Personalizing a vehicle to your own taste is obviously your right, but bragging about how original it is when its time to flip after questionable modifications were made is a major turn off.
|
Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Why,why, why??? Somebody needs to buy this and save it's C 20 soul. Put the suspension back where it's supposed to be on a C 20, get rid of the wannabe racer floor shift. I do like those wheels on these trucks, maybe painted black or a darker color.
|
Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
I wouldn’t call those rims cheesy, they look like splits. I would call mags or wagon wheel spokes cheesy. Yes fix the suspension, get rid of that silly automatic and it could be a nice truck. I have been looking for an original early GMC for close to 50 years. I found one once but couldn’t afford it. I have had a couple that were very used, abused, and rusty, and I was able to fix, but as stated before restored and original are two different things. So to those who have an original truck consider yourself very fortunate. I also think it’s criminal when a kid decides to modify one. But as an admirer of stock original vechicles thats my opinion.
|
Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
yes, it could ALL be fixed, but one has to pay a premium price up front to get what "was" a very nice truck and then unscrew all the mistakes the seller made for additional $. If it were $6K, then yes, after a total $10K investment, one would have a very nice, re-original 65 C20. Now, at the asking price, you'd almost be at $17.5K to get it back to where it was before it got all messed up. That's what is frustrating. The seller would have made more profit if he'd never touched it at all.
|
Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
maybe they aren't splits could be just beauty rings, at any rate better than so called custom rims. I would think that if you were just trying to flip something it would be better just to clean it up and make it run good, you can't customize something for someone else, especially someone like me.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Any new additions lately? This thread has kinda dried up.
