Well got the tach all hooked up.....She fires up at 1600RPM when cold....Once she calms down idles about 1050RPPM...Is that high for my engine? Turned the idle screw a bit but it wouldnt go lower
Also the Radiator hose wasnt extremely tight on the block so it squirted out a bit on the block and valve covers...BOOO! Lol |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Seems a bit high, but not too bad. Does it sound like its idling high? It also might idle slightly higher till it warms up, then will drop to like 8-900. I don't know though. The rest of your guages look like everything's good. I think idle is a little bit a matter of opinion, as far as how low to go.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I heard its suppose idle around 700 but i dont know for sure on an 82 305....It was warm when idling warm....It idles much higher when cold almost 2000RPM

New CD Player means more adjusting....Had to trim the bezel some more and then trim the CD player ring to get it to fit better with out trimming the red border on the bezel
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Hmmm. I remember it was idling high when we were up there, but then after your test drive it sounded pretty good. Does it sound high now? I've always adjusted idle by hearing, so Idk much about the range. You might just need to drive it awhile and see if it settles down.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Yeah it sounds fine to me except when cold...Then it sounds high and i have to let it warm up and rev it a few times to get it to idle down.....Im clueless haha
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
They are supposed to idle high for a few mins. Idk about 2000, though.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
LOL im wondering if my choke needs to be turned back a little gotta look at it...Rus was talking about checking something but i forgot what he said...lol
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Haha you're too young to be having memory problems, you better be using head gear practicing for your fight! lol
I'll help you with it when I get back. I think your idle is normal, it could be a fuzz high. |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Ok im thinking it has something to do with a fast idle screw that i cant find to save my life...So basically its something to do with the choke

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
OK finally i found the fast idle screw...I have the fast idle down to 1750 or so...And ive gotten the idle down to high 800s....May need a better spring as it was 900 and i pulled the throttle back so not sure it will last with my spring in place
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Ordered dual throttle return springs from Advanced for store pickup tomorrow...Gotta love 20% discount lol
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
yeah one on each side but that doesnt really change my idle at all
Just curb idle and fast idle screws |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I bet if you keep foolin with it you'll figure it out.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Ok with the bed off i finally put the rear poly urethane body mounts on.... have had the front ones on but i couldnt get the rears cut out...So with the bed off i took my Reciprocating Saw and hacked them out...
Also someone tell me where the remaining ones go??? Im clueless |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I think those might go under the radiator core support.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Those go under the bottom

Under the bottom of what? The Cab mounts already have the Cone shaped bottom connectors |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Just bought some Modular connectors to use to re-wire the cluster all together...Tired of this copper piece moving and touching each other....Im going to solder wires directly to the copper ends and then hot glue it all in place to hold it solid....Then take the other end and wire it into the male connector :)
Should be what im up to next weekend if they arrive http://i.ebayimg.com/t/20-pin-ATX-Co...tTDw~~60_3.JPG |

|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Well got to work on the truck real quick and have it starting up much better...The choke was opening up to quickly so i turned it back a notch and it started after 2 tries...Im pretty sure it would of been 1 try but i was trying to hit the gas and caused it to stall now im just working on the high idle rpm and i think it will be as good as gold
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Your ability to figure out how something works and then repair it is really impressive, and thats no BS.
