I realize these aren't trucks, but definitely nostalgic and still GM. Few pics and some info on the GM trains. Yes they had their own trains and they were used on 75 different train lines.
1st 3 are the GM Aerostar and the pics date from 1964 World's Fair. You can still see a lot of the aviation engineering in the design on the Aerostar. The older ad is from the 40's and then a more modern GM train. Unsure of its age. |

Also a few vintage pics of trucks. 1st pic is supposed to be at the GM testing grounds where they did the chevy vs ford comparison tests. Sorry its grainy. 2nd pic I'm unsure of age, but it just looked right for the thread.

Couple more trucks. The 2nd pic with the camper was taken in 1962. Pics 1, 3 & 4 look like old GM advertising pics.

I saw this on hotrod ' s Facebook page in my news feed. Has a camper and is a bit blurry but it's a Chevrolet no doubt.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Some photos of my Grandpa's 63 and 64. I love the dog dish hubcaps on the 64' He had a 327 with 5/8" cam and 3 on the tree. It didn't have enough torque to pull the boat out of the water so he would pop the clutch and spin the tires until the motor bogged down and then do it again. Always loved when he took it out of the lake for maintence.
The 64' is towing the Carla II a 66' Chris Craft 25'. It had a 283 and sounded so good through the water manifolds when you cranked it early in the morning in the marina. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3892/...3d61eaee_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3883/...860788d0_b.jpg |

If I was building that style of truck I would definitely want to find one. But it just won't look right on mine. |
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
I have a 60-62 smash hit sitting in a box....waiting for the right project to come along.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
wonder if the crusher is still around

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Nice man. Love the old Chev's and the Chris Craft boats. My old man had a '63 25 footer single 283. I still have the sales brochure for it at my parents house.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
I'll take the 5th one back. But with a side order of marker lights and make it a 3/4 ton lol. 4x4 of course.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Looks like the guy in the pic is installing the door hardware and window glass. The truck he's on has a vent win installed, but the others don't.
|
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Yeah and that one also has door handles too.
|
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Id love to have a cab and set of doors in that condition
|
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Let alone a good roof in that condition.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Cool pic, has alot of 60 & 63 parts. They used the fleetside bed trim on the cab, a 63 grill...but all factory parts. Nice custom
|
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
I don't think I've ever seen a tractor rig like that running what look like car tires/wheels. More common to see big rig wheels/tires. Very interesting job of customizing.

What do you suppose these guys are up to? Looks like it might be a '61 GMC going by the 61 in the upper corner of the license plate.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
That looks like a woman on the far right helping the guys with the engine. You don't see that very often.
I think that is what they call 'grassroots wrenchin' |

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Im new to this forum, I drive a 66. I like all the old school pics, how do I post one? I'm technically challenged. Can I do it from my smartphone?
|
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Yes you can. I do it all the time. Look in the bottom left corner of the thread and you'll see the post reply butt9n. Click that and it'll pull up the reply window and then at the bottom manage attachments. Go there and add away pal. Welcome to the forum and hope to see some pictures of your rig.
