Going very easy. So this morning Harley was unusually quiet, just sitting in the kitchen, Imwas headed to the council tip with Prozac and a load of caravan insides that Sally packed yesterday. Then found this little guy, sitting in the kitchen, picked him up and took him to the garden and released him. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstwcvg6ve.jpg Headed out. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psavizqunm.jpg Found this at the tip, guy said if he turned his head away, he could not see me taking it to my car. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssflmeds5.jpg When I got home at 9.30 mate Kevin’s VW pulled up as I got out of Prozac. He stayed for three hours, also helping me move the caravan to where it needed to be. In front of the garage. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuvuygqxf.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstaxmxxm3.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psodkyftst.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psufxcofch.jpg After he left, all I ended up doing was masking up the holes in the interior and getting some plastic over the missing rear window. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psxlgckoop.jpg Tonight Sally sent me this after she went home. Nice evening outside. |

Update from Dennis in St Louis.
Gas station progress all in finishing touches. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psbl4oetzb.jpg Fitted a fly screen door. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psavgbtxof.jpg And added an awesome Pepsi pusher. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2nfp2mwt.jpg And a moon pic from Sally last night. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrxhqh88j.jpg Of course, being told to stay home and rest, ie watch telly, sleep etc this week, feels so wrong and weird. My manager and contract manager were both very adamant that I do not even do online training this week. Hospital visit on Friday culminated in more meds added, rest recommended and also put forward for Echocardiogram and following that, an Angiogram and whatever follows, based on findings. Weird thing is that though I feel really tired, and out of breath with a headache, I do not feel sick, like when you have a cold. So plan of action for the week will be minimal anything.....l Will do my best. |
Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Keep on there Rian. It is a bother for those of us that are use to being on the go so much, but it will pay off in the end.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Bloody hell, being sick, sucks big time.
Rest they said, it will be go for you they said. How much recorded Nat Geo and History Channel can you stand. Was chatting with Stas in Siberia and Andy in Tulsa through the day, thank goodness for time, differences Eventually after 2.30 I needed to go for a bit of a walk as my head was hurting. Fetched these out, high density foam tiles. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pspnjqbldd.jpg Floors needed help. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswglgsigj.jpg So I helped, in fact, I believe that despite it all going real slow, I was relaxing a bit. This was a comment made by mate Paul, a wise man. FWIW I think your doctor has failed to understand what you (and I) view as rest and relaxation. You are quite relaxed, stripping out the caravan, happy to be recycling 'stuff' and a tip trip is decidedly therapeutic; whereas laying on your arse watching reruns of Friends would only serve to make you anxious and depressed. Rest is not a 'one size fits all' solution but getting that across to the caring profession can be challenging. Crack on https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psckol3vkt.jpg 10mm high density foam floor, felt great to walk on. Almost no physical effort, but made my head and heart smile. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswqk3i4we.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psdtuvskjm.jpg Next up, hardboard sheets over the foam. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psbbskenux.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psbdvwi8kk.jpg Done. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psbuqqyghh.jpg Tables assembled, this one may get tossed out, it feels wrong. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psubezqhak.jpg Job done, table no 2, may end up being the not one used for welding on. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pste6fyykk.jpg Have to say, this has turned out much better than expected. Ready for bed now, let’s hope I get to sleep. Later. |

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Had to go get some food as I had not left home in a while.
Went via an electrics wholesaler and got a sealed LED unit. £36.00 my biggest spend so far. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psc5aibix1.jpg Around 4pm I was again needing to just get out the house. Free paint, thanks Sally. Makes a difference. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps13ednfop.jpg Honestly regretted starting, 10 minutes into the job. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pse9rciqwc.jpg An hour later, done. Just needs to reflect maximum light. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psb5f9i1fu.jpg All because mate Kevin had a discarded, once used welding curtain of 4x8 in a dark plastic to help make it slightly safer. Maybe. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psfke7e7hg.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7ggdflsv.jpg Getting the curtain over the weekend. . |
Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Had mate Fil “Sparkplug” from UKGSER.com over this afternoon for a lovely extended visit from Cambridge, also to drop off the engine hoist support bar he picked up in Abingdon for me last week.
Its bigger than expected and not what I thought it was. Need to figure that out. I thought it was the right size to fit my engine hoist/cherry picker to get the V8 and transmission back into the truck safely and horizontally later when the time comes Mate Martin said to me recently that this bar is for Front Wheel Drive motors. I have no idea. Maybe can still make it work for the V8. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmiucnsxd.jpg Harley took to him instantly. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6ddey0dw.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmnffvbyx.jpg After tea, chats etc, garage tour and rummage, I had to get onto a 4pm training online, Skype, and we got the bits I managed to force on him, into his campervan that he is building and see him off. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6ia2mpks.jpg What a great way to spend time. I had started to watch the Breaking Bad box set this morning as a way to keep me indoors, unfocused and “busy” but its a lot nicer having a likeminded guy about. Back to the telly next. At least till ”Nurse Sally” gets here. |
Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Don't like it when my buddy is feeling poorly. Hope you get better real soon. The camper is cool and will only get much cooler in the hands of Grizz.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
I am amazed at just how slowly things are now happening compared to my usual project pace with this whole cardiac thing.
But it still beats sitting in front of the telly 24/7 So today, Sally again put on her “garage clothes”, stolen from Ryan, her younger son and came to help me, shifting, carrying, advising, mocking, teasing and generally being helpful, she also weeded the whole garden and cut the grass for me....... yup, I know it’s going to cost me somewhere in the future. Looking as unflattering as can be, hair back, old tracksuit, boots, and lugging an engine balancer bar down to the shed..... My kinda girl. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshues9rs9.jpg So....... Yup, truck still waiting in here behind all this and the rest. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstbcxb8aa.jpg So started to clear out garage, so that I can get to the C10 and it’s parts that are stacked up high in the rear. Put this in the market as I decided not to build the little kart as planned, sometimes thanklessness deserves a zero...... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psf9h1kmhg.jpg Removed the small, tall table, and though it does not look it, fitted and fixed this one, made of a kitchen worktop offcut. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pscqq2g7zh.jpg Slowly, getting there. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssv64uzt9.jpg Done, actually got loads of little jobs done. Tomorrow we will start of the old welding table, not yet started there. I seem to be doing two hours and call g it a day. Done for today. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psa4nuqfs4.jpg In the mean time, Dennis is now again going full steam ahead with his 66 C10 NASCAR build. Hendricks Motor is ready to fit. He got some complete AP Racing brakes all round yesterday, and fitted them today. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswm02fl3o.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pszoj9gmti.jpg NASCAR Spec front end too. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqmjfbkfc.jpg This thing is going to ROCK !!! . So Sally supervised, helped and mocked me all day, well, after 12.00 when my guest Michael who also has a bunch of older aircooked VW’s including a split bus. He came from Southend to collect the Hazet trolley and another toolbox I had. Two hours later he left. I really love this community, we are all connected. Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Plan for today included clearing the three work table/benches in the garage, a light, easy job.
This did not happen. Instead, I dug out some stuff, photographed and documented it, and posted for sale on forums and FB Marketplace Brand new unused Corsa Combo towbar sold to a guy in Oxford. Mate Martin popped in to pick up some Mazda MX5/Miata service books to pass on to a friend, and have a cuppa and a natter. I had a Skype meeting with my team secretary and a finance girl in Poland, so loads done, little achieved. Also had Glen Anderson over for an hour or two to collect stuff, and drop off some license plates for my collection. But after Martin and the online work, I went up into the garage loft and found two fans, one I was looking for did not get used, but the other one I had forgotten about completely. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psiei1hfkq.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshulybzwg.jpg So,I tried various positions and configurations...... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps46zktmtv.jpg At this point,,Sally got back from work, so again, distraction for a few minutes, then back to the job in hand. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psru30bzz4.jpg Using wooden wedges I made years ago as shelf supports and a Kansas license plate, along with the extractor fan unit and a spare caravan window, we closed the hole in the caravan, Holes drilled. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psxgmddn7r.jpg Supervisor not impressed with progress. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psbofgy9pl.jpg The rain will run wide from the front of the extractor. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps22pemnzj.jpg Of course on the inside, there now is a blower unit floating exactly where I want to work, but I felt placement in the centre of the camper was the right thing to do. I will move the table to the left hand wall, and box in the unit to create a small shelf, possibly for a coffee mug and Digestives. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psy5rgil6l.jpg Last job. Water testing the license plate roof over the blower. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pslbqkokz2.jpg I think that was a good result. More slow work tomorrow. |
Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Spent most of today online, training modules and legal stuff for work. Yes, meant to rest, but some stuff does not happen that way.
Anyway, Sally came over after work at 4pm, and only then did I make it to the garage for a hour. Quick summary of yesterday’s progress. https://youtu.be/WV511Iptk1s Then. Sorting, bottling and packing away screws, tools and that was it. Then cooked dinner..... telly, while she fell asleep by 6.30 (yes it’s a daily thing) Harley seems to think she is a meerkat. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psof6vfgan.jpg Been chatting with Dennis tonight, he has been over at Ethyls to make sure they are ready for Adam and Hanna’s wedding is ready. Funny, there was also this interloper tonight.... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4zlnbawg.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pseojbhi9f.jpg Kelly forever |
Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
More slow progress....
Was a busy day, doctors visit, pharmacy, haircut (overdue) and managing some work meetings. Spent an hour or so in the garage. Then ran out of steam or want. Started clearing one table, that lasted about 10 minutes, then distracted and started to fit electrical stuff, including an extension plug bank, and new LED strip light. 2x 5’ sealed unit. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psdiqgz8dr.jpg Not that easy to see in daylight. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqwwaqhtx.jpg Better later in the day. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuyyypd41.jpg Should work well in winter darkness. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9kqvmqmo.jpg Happy with the result of the bits I did do. Got @Samta22 over at 07.30 in the morning as we both like getting going early. Then Hospital appointment at 09.00 for Echocardiogram And dependant on lots of variables, possibly a quick trip up to Northampton later in the day. Could be interesting |
