New project. 87 I put in a new GM crate motor, 2500 stall and posi that works. Now for the cosmetics. Can anyone tell me their experience with the 2.5 spindle drop cutting off one coil? Can I use stock shocks?

I can officially post up in this thread! I've saved tons of pictures in this thread for inspiration for my next build. I just bought this truck. It's a 1978 Chevy Big Ten, completely stock. 454 motor, th400, posi rear. Plans are a 5-7 in drop, Boss wheels and hopefully a long, grueling, fun restore.

New project 87 gmc r15 just swapped the stock 305 tbi out for a 406 475 horse and a built turbo 350 trans. Pic is from when I purchased it a few weeks ago.

i have a very clean 87 long bed with the tbi 305.I'm looking for somebody thats knowledgable about these engines.Iwant to do some upgrades but from what I understand about the only thing you can do is either yank every thing and go back to carb or install the one cam upgrade available and call it good.I hears theres just no way to work with this computerized ignition on this year.any help advice would be great.

SkinnyG 05-29-2013 07:57 PM

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

If you can tune a carb, you can swap the ECU for MegaSquirt, and tune the TBI for whatever you want. Cheaper than buying a new carb. And you don't even have to smell like gasoline after tuning. Heck, I don't even shut the engine off.

The learning curve is a bit rough at the start though. But if you can tune a carb, you can tune MegaSquirt.
