Two days after ordering from Swag, the adjustable flat top showed up. It is heavy and well made and allows for bends beyond 90 degrees.

The adjustable flat top made it pretty easy to make the side pieces for the 99r46 box.
Positioned the side pieces, welded them up and filled in the corners with a radius to make the edges flow a little better. The 99r46 box made an ugly area look fairly decent...like it is supposed to be there. Thanks again for the idea 99 and r46! |

Nice work, looks great. I too really enjoyed your story about your neighbors. Truly good friends and lasting relationships are very special indeed.

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Thanks guys...appreciate the props!
99 the finger brake was $279 or so a couple weeks ago on Ebay. The adjustable flat was $119. Both prices included shipping. The regular press brake was quite a bit less and frankly I don't know how often I will use the fingers. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Dig'n the storage boxes. Nice layout so far.
Very good progress. R46 |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Look's really nice...Any ideas for the door yet?
Maybe a stereo cabinet magnet/button (you push in and its pops the door open) |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Thanks R46. The storage box does look way better than the jagged hole. Probably have about 8 hours in that one. Next 99r46 box will go quicker!
Mark, I am way open for door ideas. Was thinking of something that mimics the glove box and speaker cover... don't know yet. Believe you used the speaker magnets on the Dodge truck you did? |

what if you mimic the rest of your panels with a bead roll cover. toss a hinge on the insdie and a push to open style magnet on the inside.

anytime, and by all means do as you please. won't hurt me none if you find a better idea.

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Speaker magnets?
not sure what your referring to Doug..99 has the same push to open magnet idea I was talking about. Mark... |

R46 also suggested for the cover to use brushed aluminum with aircraft rivets. That would look pretty cool too. Thanks for all the ideas guys! |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
I'm on board with the rivets...

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
All right then, how about a net mesh? Something you see in the rear pockets of a mini van. You know the style: black diamond elastic web stuff. Just a thought.

Looking really good AD!

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Thanks Mark, maybe we can do the rivets....thinking whatever I do needs to go with the theme of the truck. Now...to identify a theme.
Thank you Rob, the netting could look good. And fairly easy to do. Appreciate that 98. Really enjoying the updates on your Burb! |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Ohhhhh yeah. Some lovely ideas going into this build. keep it up

a pretty crude moch up of maybe some dimple dies with some mesh and rivets
just throwing some visuals out there. Its tuff to balance everything out and think so far ahead. You might make a killer piece somewhere but it sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Thanks Sssingo, good to see you back!
99, that looks awesome! Really appreciate your creativity. And you are right, whatever I do there doesn't need to stick out like a sore thumb. Gotta follow a theme. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Good rendition on the door.
Remember if you use the screen & rivets you'll need to tie that into the interior someplace else so it doesn't look like an afterthought (just my 2 cents here). Another thought is just to dimple the door so it matches the two panels on each side of it. Simple & not overstated. Again - my opinion here. R46 |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Here is what I used for my fuel door that would work well.

Just cut the door and send them out to me. Leave room for bead shrink |
