Re: 1971 c10 stepside
Hey buddy .. what are your plans for tail lights on your stepper? Just stock ones? I'm thinking about trying to come up with something billet. Maybe re-make the factory brackets in Billet and just pull them in a little closer to the bedsides? More flush and/or a single bracket for both the tail and backup lights?
.. just curious what you were planning for this one. thanks. |
Re: 1971 c10 stepside
hello chad , im still on powertrain mode so for now im thinking of staying with all factory on the lamps department , but then again i may change my mind as the build goes on

Re: 1971 c10 stepside
Raull,... are you using any "vertical" supports under those beam mounts?
Or are the beam brackets just anchored to the outside wall? |
Re: 1971 c10 stepside
solid cement area at the top , we build two 16in wide by 10 in high by 1/2 inch thick plates and used 4 1/2 inch bolts all the way trough the outside of the wall on both sides , the beam its a 6 inch tall , the main area where one should worry is at the middle , so we welded a 1inch thread adapter in the middle for a center support just in case , dont need it but we just like to be safe than sorry , ill post some more pix as we go

Re: 1971 c10 stepside
Looking really good. As someone with a stepper, trying to sort thru what I need to fit wide wheels in the rear. I forget, did you shorten the rear end and cut the bed insides for tubs?

hello leon , i just went with some cookie cuters 265's for now but if i ever go wider i would cut bed panels and use some factory fleetside tubs and cut them to my specs. |
Re: 1971 c10 stepside
i have a beam running sideways through my garage....you got me thinking ! i need to see if mine is solid or one of the wood i beam ones , it is about 12 inches tall and 4 inches wide
