thanks 1968vetl-71, have you been to the pull a part lately?

well a few updates, found a hydroboost system off a astro van, and a bucket seat and console from a 92 chevy truck and since i already have a 60-40 i can either run buckets or a bench. stripped the frame and its ready for blasting, also got my rear disc brake on today as well and i am beat, heres a few pics of my progress

Funny you asked. This is what I just went and found this morning. This 61 was loaded! Some one had already grabbed the deluxe wheel but left the center horn piece, and has deluxe heater/controls. It also had these really neat vent covers and were operated by the chrome pull knobs located on each side under the dash. I never seen that before or really paid close attention to it. All the ones I have/had are just the pull type right on the vent. It (HAD) an absolute cherry BBW panel, I almost felt guilty cutting it up. I wonder where the trim went?

i think you have to be the luckiest man on earth when it comes to finding parts, never seen those vent covers either, maybe some rare factory option?

the brakes are from a company called blackbird direct bolt on, no issues what-so-ever. i did decide not to put my e- brake back on, i never was to keen on the under dash set-up otr the crossmember rig. i did get the rear end finished all but the brake lins i need to purchase a good flaring tool mine is junk. heres a couple pics of the finished rear end

That rear brake set-up looks real nice. I been messing with calipers today also. replaced my pads on my 01 silverado and now the calipers are sticking. I can smell the pads burning after driving around the block, Guess ill be replacing the calipers this weekend. Nice work on your truck. Your going to be done in no time.

Re: my 65 fleetside build

sounds like some of my luck. i dropped my frame off today for sandblasting i thought it was a 100 but it turned out to be 75 and he told me he would blast it and powdercoat it for 200, if i hadnt already bought the epoxy i would have jumped all over that, so if anyone in east tn, or surrounding area needs blasting or coating done let me know and i will get you his #

flips, just finished going through your entire thread from start to finish. Stayed up til 1am last night, then went through the last few pages at lunch. I am in awe of your remarkable skills, and the speed at which you work. The truck looks fantastic, and no doubt will be a jaw dropper when complete. Just picked up my 66 SWB FS BBW a few weeks ago...

completely understand about the money being tight, hope everything works out for you guys, its tough raising a family now-a-days on one income but at least she can draw for a while.

still no frame the blasters air compressor went down he said hopefully monday, but i did get some work done in the past few days, my suspension is cleaned and painted ready for the frame and i got to messing around with a dash cluster i had that i wasnt using and mounted my tach in it that was on the column,, as you can see in the pictures the gauge cluster is in bad shape but i have another one on the way, notice the tach has a built in shift light so i drilled a small hole in the plastic and run my dial for setting the shift light through. check it out and let me know what you think

Love the tach, is that a 2-1/2" dial tach? Would love to see some detail as to how you mounted it...

thanks crgrs 66, actually its a 3 3/4 its made by autogage part#2302 when i get my other dash i will try to go more into depth with it, i have a tendency to get caught up in what i am doing and forget to take pics and descriptions until it to late. still no frame so i did get the shop striaghtened up some.. well at least you can walk through it without tripping now anyway:lol:

just got home from a weekend at the charlotte auto fair and it was incredible, never been to a swap meet of that magnitude all kinds of parts, and meet up with one of our board members(allaboutchevelles) super nice guy, and a total gearhead.if you get a chance you need to attend this meet atleast once in your life, there were vendors from as far as california. there were several trucks from our era there one that was silver and had two blowers on it with a huge bugcatcher it was sharp i think i have seen it on this sight before, and several for sale. still no frame , maybe tommorrow.
