Working on the door panels. Don't have pic showing much detail, but the slats have been glued in place. Then the tweed material is glued down and stapled to the first panel.

Here the upper and lower panels cover with ultra leather, then glued and stapled to the first panel, for the finish panel, with arm rest installed.

What did you use to clip the panel to the door? Just a standard push type like used in mid-60's cars or ?? Also, I just realized that you are showing pics of the build from a while ago, not in real time. I was getting pretty impressed at the progress you were making from day to day.

Turned out really nice. I will admit that I have seen more bad roadster conversions than good so usually don't care for them. Yours has just the right amount of chop and great profile.

Is the stuff that looks like Wainscoting (the stuff you used for the door and back panels) also the same lauan wood material, or is it actually regular Wainscoting -- It turned out great. It's a cool idea. :)

Just the standard type you can get at the auto paint store(at least at mine).
:lol::lol:, yeah I wish I could get things done that fast, but I'm not a TV show. I agree with you about the roadster conversions, I've seen several I just did not care for. Thanks about my job, I spent a lot of time looking at real convertibles, to try and match that look. Picture of clips isn't good, can't get it to focus real close up.

It's the same lauan material, each piece is cut separtely, then glued to the first panel. Post #291 shows how I drew it on the lauan, then I had to cut the pieces. Post #293 shows the individual pieces, temporaryly screwed to the first panel, until ready to glue down.

Pic 2 This is the glue I use, it can also be sprayed with a sipon paint gun.

I went for about 5 years without doing the top interior. I had been working on a rebuild for a good friend (more on that later). Anyhow here is the build on the top interior.

Pic 1 I had about 80% of the interior thought out, except for the corner pieces (that's another reason for taking so long:lol::lol:). What I finally did was take some poster board and form a piece in the corner and cover with 4 layers of fiberglass.

Jump ahead here, loss some of my pics.

Pic 1 This is the center secion of the main piece, slats glued in place and then covered with material. I had cut the leather close to the size I needed, stapled to the edge of panel.

Pic 1 The second panel is put in place, glued (contact cement) and stapled to first panel.

Pic 2 Thin close cell foam is glued to panel, and cut to fit.

Before the leather is pulled over the foam, you spray glue to both pieces, then let it tack up good, then work from center toward the outside edges, and press down. I use a bondo spreader for this. Then staple in place

Here both front panels are done and the corner pieces, covered and installed. The corner pieces are held in with plastic xmas tree door panel clips.
