Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Dan had to check his books and engines.........JV= 6V53, JI=6-71, JH= 8V71, JN= super 250, JM= gas , JC= NTC 290...............but only if tandem.
2 axle chassis are Hs............like HV, HI, HH, HN, HM, and HC. My data book was 1974 so didn't have the 3208 listed back then . Learned something new today as I always referred the 90" BBC trucks as Js. Looked at the listing again.............and most likely would be a JC as the JN [Super 250] would be rare by '74 . OK guys...........What makes the 250 Super ? |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I wish I knew my Cummins Engines, but I probably shouldn't even guess, lol.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Bill-----I always took pride in knowing almost as much about the competition as about the DDA engines.............and Allison transmissions , when I was a salesman .
The Super 250 was a long stroke 250, had a 6.5" stroke instead of 6" , and gave it something like 927 cubes instead of 855 . I still maintain a competative engine library . |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I only drove one Cummins one time. It was a late 60's White 9000 with a 220 and 10-Speed Road Ranger. No Power Steering, lol. Surprisingly, I really liked it. Didn't steer that bad.

Great pictures.
A good many that I've never seen before. Thanks for posting them. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
You bet, the credit goes to Dick Copello for putting those two pages together. Really liked all those 9500's and Generals, there were lots of other interesting rigs as well. I missed out on a 1970 GMC 9500 with a 6-71 at the city auction a few years ago. I was told it sold for under $1000 running but the steering box was broken. A local gravel trucking company bought it and it's been sitting in their yard ever since.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
That was a good price. The one that went for auction around here was the opposite. I was hoping on a low auction price and I personally drew the line at $1900. It finished off at $8900 !!

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Are we Sure that the H is the tandem and the J is is the single? I have one of each and my tandem SPID pretty clearly spells it out as a model JV

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
The "c" 90 on the previous page I see has the "low" lights (raised cab) does not not make it most likely a "H" or one of the Cummins powered models? Never mind I see JY Dan all ready covered that.....I should just quit responding from my phone.....I miss to much reading this way

That truck is just the least little bit over-loaded.

"If it fits it ships". I don't think DOT sees it that way, tho'

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Actually if that truck ain't running on very flat roads, it's going over. I'd be turning a corner at no more than 2 MPH, lol.
