Tore into my steering column the other day. The po had broke off the tabs on the column sleeve that holds everything together. I took the old sleeve off my 66 and used it. Had to glue the signal thing back together because it was starting to break. Got my signasl working. Took my awhile to relize that the bulb holder has to be grounded to the truck to work. The old column had a shifter on the column. It was'nt being used because my shifter is on the floor. I thought I would use the column part off the 66 to clean things up because it had the shifter on the floor. It turns out the parts look close to being the same but the slot for the key way and the slot on the sleeve are different. I left it the way it was. Thought I would start working on cleaning up the old engine. Putting on a new valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket. See if I can stop the bleeding.

Re: Daverods project 66
I don't have a fence around my yard and my dog just runs loose. His favorite spot to sit is right in front of my garage. He never goes out of the yard and I never have to talk to anyone or worry about people bugging me because their all afraid of him. If people even think about stopping he stands up and gives them the stare down. He's really just a big baby. Did I tell you I really hate most people.:me2: Especially dumb a$$es

Re: Daverods project 66
one thing you could do about the shifter is cut off the part that sticks off and use kitty hair to fill it, then sand smooth!

I need to get the micro on my camera fixed so I can take some pics when I take stuff apart. Got my horn working and my signals. They even turn off by themselves. Painted my valve cover and put on a new gasket.

Re: Daverods project 66
You are not out working on your horn. I have started out twice to work on remounting the steering and tie rods but it is too hot. The concrete is scorching. maybe later tonight when it cools down.

I cut off my bump stops. Much better now I can hit small bumps and not bottom out. Not really sure what's going to happen if I hit a big bump? Should be getting my jeep springs Monday, been soaking everything with wd-40. I'm dripping with anticipation. Thinking about getting some lowering blocks.:smoke:

Off with the white spokes and on with the aluminum. I had a wobble in the rear end. That's gay sounding it's it. Anyway went to the tire store to get my wheels balanced. Turns out one was bent and one was cracked. I knew about the cracked one, I moved it to the rear earlier. Anyway picked up 4 used rims mounted & balanced for $100. They had some 22's with tires there for $1400. I had them put em on just to see what it would look like. I did'nt have the old ladies credit card so I ended up with the one's for $100. The 22's looks killer though. Saw some 20's with tires at a garage sale down the street for $350. Went home to take a tire off to make sure they would fit. When I got back some old guy was putting them in his car. Kinda looked like that Strodder guy but mexican.:ito::lol:
