Budget = telling your money what to do, instead of wondering where it went. Try it, you might find you have more than you think! :D

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

ya, without our monthly budget our money would be who knows where... mine always comes the last of the month usually. what ever is left over from the mortgage and cars goes right to the build/savings. granted sometimes things come up and we have to skip a month but it works out good for the most part.

were planning our vaca for the end of sept. so theres nothing happening for the the build or savings next month:( COLORFUL COLORADO HERE WE COME!!! (as long as school doesnt get in the way)

Hmmm, we are planning a Colorado get-together/BBQ on Sept 27th, maybe you will be here for that? That would be awesome! Take a look at the "August Get Together" thread in the Colorado section. Yeah, it started out to be August, but got bumped to September.

Harness and PCM are here! WOOHOO!!! Now, I'm going to note every connection that they left in the harness so when I go to put a 5.3L in Goldie I can do this myself and save a few $$$.

Yeah that whole budget thing is why I haven't done anything to the truck. Started off good, then got the bill for the engine. Bye bye money saved for truck. Now it's slowly building back up.

That's the only way to fly!

'Debt' and 'credit cards' are words not found in our vocabulary at our house. If we don't have the http://www.juanitaquevedo.com/media/AnimatedMoney.gif , we don't buy until we do. That, and a budget, has made life much easier. And better.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

I need to find my camera first! :haha:

No seriously, I have no idea where it's at......

So this will have to do for now:

2006 Silverado harness, starting at PCM connectors and moving out from the PCM -

BARE WIRES:

White - To tach, 4cyl signal
Green/White - To fuel pump relay control, 12v +
Green/White - AC cycling switch
White - To brake light switch, cruise
Green/White - AC clutch enable relay control
Purple - To brake switch, for TCC
Green/White - VSS, to speedo
Green - To OBD II connector, in vehicle
Brown/White - To SES light

3 Red wires - Each to a 12v key-on fused power source
1 Orange wire - To a 12v battery fused power source
1 Purple wire - To starter solenoid (tie trucks starter wire to this one, or leave it alone and use trucks wire to the starter)

CONNECTORS:

• Electric fans (high and low, I will have to supply the ground)
• TAC module
• Wires for cruise: Dark Blue, Gray/Black, Gray
• DS coil packs
• DS injectors
• Alternator
• Coolant temp sensor (front of left head, for PCM)
• Ground
• AC compressor [probably won't need/use]
• AC pressure switch (on AC line) [probably won't need/use]
• Starter solenoid (see “1 Purple wire” above)
• Crank sensor
• Oil level switch (in oil pan)

MAIN HARNESS SPLITS IN TWO HERE:

One:

• MAP sensor
• Passenger side O2 sensor, front
• MAF
• PS coil packs
• Ground
• PS Injectors
• Throttle body

Two:

• Knock sensor harness on intake manifold
• Oil PSI switch (behind intake manifold, for PCM)
• Cam sensor
• Ground
• Driver side O2 sensor, front
• Transmission, drivers side
• Transmission, VSS, tailhousing
• Transmission, passenger side

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

So Dennis.... if you are going to crash our Colorado Get Together, I suppose that means Fred needs to be on Gen III power by September 27th?????

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

:metal: or at least ready for the 1st fire up by then! that would be a sweet welcoming!

Hmmm, I thought I had posted a before pic of the harness. I'll have to look on my computer at work tomorrow. But here is one of the reworked harness. And A pic of the problem with the rear end. grrrr.....

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

^^^ Wow...they screwed that one up real good ;)

menace121978 08-27-2009 12:01 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

new/reworked harness looks great Bob. now which rearend is that?

glock35ipsc 08-27-2009 12:06 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

It's the one out of the burb. For some reason, the tape measure I used to measure Fred's rearend has an error on it somewhere, because Fred's rear is wider than I thought. Damn cheap tape measures!

The are actually the same width, so I will just put the ring and pinion out of the burb rear end into Fred's.

menace121978 08-27-2009 12:15 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

:metal: cool, so you'll end up w/ the final gearing you wanted... 3.42's!;)
looks like your hitting it pretty hard trying to make that deadline:lol:

i hate it when the numbers arent in the right order on those cheapo tapes!

glock35ipsc 08-27-2009 12:21 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

It was at least an inch and a half shorter than all the others!

Yup, 3.42 is what I wanted all along. With the 275/60's, it will put me a 2250rpm at 78mph. Perfect!

bigbadjohn84 08-27-2009 01:55 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

yea, I thought all the rearend widths were in the same size catagory for those years.. now the 88-98 are wider in the trucks, but the spring perches are in different locations. something to consider tho

nlped 08-27-2009 02:55 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

I ended up putting a '96 rearend in my truck. I had to cut off the perches and shock mounts and weld them back on (wish I had thought that through as I am now wanting to do a flip), but it is a 30 spline, with an Eaton Posi, and 3.42 gears so it accomplished all of my goals at the time.

glock35ipsc 08-27-2009 03:11 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Mid 90', eh? 5 lug.... do you remember how much difference, if any, in the width? U-joint the same?

bigbadjohn84 08-27-2009 03:59 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

if I am not mistaken it puts the rear width right in line with the front. the one I used on my 84 4wd evened them out
