I'm going to try using the center caps I have on my truck now. Hopefully they'll work since they are held on by the lug nut covers.

R u running porterbuilt on it

creep 10-29-2013 05:54 PM

Re: '63 GMC Project

Not Porterbuilt but the same style system.

I still don't have the 20s on yet. I gotta change out my spindles and do some trimming in the front and get rid of the middle stake pocket in the back then HOPEFULLY they'll fit.

Haven't been on in a while, been kind of a lousy summer for me, nothing major just lots of little crap. Can't complain to much with what other members are going through.

How long did it take to get your wheels, & can you give me an idea of pricing? You can PM. I didn't notice anything on their website. Guess you have to contact them directly. I like these, but I also like the "Delmo specials" too.

What rear end did you chose

I think it took a couple of months to get 'em and they cost about $220 a wheel + $25 each for the powdercoat.

Not sure what your referring to but I am using a ************* rear suspension set up with what I think is a Chevelle axle redrilled to 5x5" bolt pattern.

Apparently I can't tell you who's rear system I'm using even if I'm answering a question and not flat out advertising for them. That's whack.

The 15s are stock wheels from a 92 C-1500. I believe they are 15" X 7" with 4" of backspacing.

I had to weld brackets to my axle to mount the air ride setup anyway so I was able to use any rear end I could fit in it. The rear I used already had all of the stock mounting brackets cut off and smoothed out so I don't know how they line up but I doubt it's a simple bolt in swap. I also had to have my driveshaft modified to work with it.

Great build, even if you are using 'brand X' suspension  The mobsteels are gonna look great. Also, kudos on the faux Hotwheels- that's too cool!

Thanks

Nothing new with the 63 but I wrecked my daily S-10 2 months ago and the replacement truck I ordered came in this week. Just picked it up today...

Can you tell me more about this, custom ordered or did you make it?

Any pictures of you wheels mocked up on your truck?

Thanks.

I made the Hot Wheels replica from 2 '62 Chevys and a GMC panel truck. The card is just a photoshop job I did on my computer. Here's a thread about how I did it.

Here's the best pic of the one of the wheels during the test fit.

Here's a vid of me starting the truck and pulling it into my storage unit. I shot this to see what the new horn sounded like from a distance.

The wheels are gonna look sweet. You gonna run a different center cap or sticking with those? The truck looks & sounds great in the video as well. :metal: I bet you can't wait to get it out of storage!

Thanks. Yeah I wanna drive it so badly right now.

I am going to use the centercaps I have for now but I may evenyually get some smoothie centers for them.

Man your truck is amazing. Just read whole thread. Brand x looks like a great product I also like how the lca mounts. Would be nice to know the company. First time I've seen them block it like that. Wonder what the reason is. Which horn is that? I had a farmer buddy of mine give me a set of nathan air chimes they are crazy loud. One rule no kids and no grey hair for mine. I'd feel to bad if I killed someone with a horn

Re: '63 GMC Project

Good looking truck, my two kids heard it in the other room and came running and said "What was that!, it sounded COOOL!" Us three think its cool. Could I get some info on it and maybe a picture of it. Thanks.
