so I'm just one cable short to link them all although I show two short leads extra here, I am using the #6 main positive lead as one of the links (to join modules 2 and 3)

Down the line, how hard would it be to add more batteries?

that question is on point as I am about to head out to pick up a second battery pack just like this one

let me start off by saying that there are two options

Option 1 - will allow me to run two of them in parallel meaning we add up the amp hours (but the voltage stays the same aka 350 volts) so I will essentially double my capacity from 9.1 kWh to 18.2 kWh to increase my range (this will put me in the Chevy Volt battery size range)

and I can keep adding battery packs until I literally run out of room on the truck

Option 2 - BMW makes a newer pack using more bettter battery technology that is exactly precisely the same physical size but they increased the capacity from 9.1 kWh to 12 so I can simply replace mine with the newer one, it will bolt right up to where this one went and hook right up with the existing connectors, (two of these would add up to 24 kWhs and would put me in the Nissan Leaf battery size range) hope that helps

Sacramento to Los Angeles yesterday there and back in under 13 hours, got my second 2018 BMW 530e battery pack, paid $1,100 for this one (paid $900 for my first one, so $1,000 per pack average, for those of you good with maths, ha ha)

on the conservative side with zero testing in my truck at minimum one pack is good for 20 miles of range (now before you judge, this is a very conservative guestimate, and ten years ago studies have shown Americans on the average drive 40 miles per day, a similar study done recently revealed that number has dropped to only 25 miles per day, I realize that may not be you, but we are talking about averages, ha ha)

I am super happy
Fun Facts: (WoW)
  • Wifes job is only 1.1 miles away from our house
  • Grocery store is only 1.2 miles away from my house
  • Target is only 2 miles away [and there's a friggen battery charger in their parking lot]
  • Home Depot is 2.7 miles away
  • Credit Union aka our bank is 2.8 miles away
Google Map yours just out of curiosity?

Well, let's get the gratuitous joke out right off the bat. When you said you were going to do this I was //shocked//... You're really going to town on this -- you can go to the country later (that's a range joke ; ). Tons of progress and a huge accumulation of knowledge. I'll admit that I'm like 90% enthralled and 10% horrified. But Henry Ford said something like "if I gave people what they wanted, I would have just built a faster horse." I will also admit, that each page I turn, I picture that transmission sitting in there without an engine in front of it.. and think how crazy it would be to have a small block powered truck that looked completely stock, just with a barely odd-looking transmission. And that transmission was like a 300 horsepower supercharger. Anyway, I'm muddying the waters - unintentionally, but just letting you know that I'm not only watching, but it has engaged my thinking. Carry on my wayward son.. and while you're at it:

your SBC idea has potential and not too long ago I came across a thread where a lunatic was asking what would happen if we mated that transmotor with an LS, my initial thought was what's your GoFundMe link, ha ha

anywho one more month(ish) of dreaded winter here in Nor Cal and I'll be de ICEing the truck as the cool kids say

so got the lugulators and I must say they pass the feel solid and hefty in the palm of your hand test and not light as pot metal, you know what I'm sayin'

can't wait to put them on and back the truck out of the secret facility code name "Mamas House"

got a chance to clean the garage and here's a peak at the two 2018 BMW 530e high voltage battery packs and the 2010 Lexus GS450h transmission sitting waiting to go in to the truck, hopefully as early as next month (again the only hold up is me getting the '54 outta there

the two battery packs equate to the electric only range of the Chevy Volt (18 kW) as a reference the original Nissan Leaf had the 24 kW capacity, I think of the killa watts as fuel tank size.

March Madness baby !

Nice circuit lug nuts. Even your purely mechanical parts are named after electrical parts.
