I don't know how old, "old" is Tim, but here is one I'm pretty proud of. This ones only 16 years old. The wheels need to be polished, but nobody has the time.
You know, I have a good camera, but it's never where I need to take pictures. |
Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
That don't make-em like that anymore, so that's old (and it's a shame they stopped). Sixteen years of workin' can make a truck look ruff, unless you treat it right. I've always liked the service/lube trucks an outfit needs that runs equipment.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
This thread is so big I'm not sure I ever posted these. They were from Carlisle Trucks '07 and maybe I only showed them in that thread way back when. Anyway, Trucks are beautiful and I sure am glad there are owners who feel that way

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
My father took this pic of a 54 fire truck from a customer of his.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ps9dodjqfu.jpg I met the guy weeks later. He stopped me while leaving my yard in my 54. We got to talking about my truck and come to find out he knew me father. It's A Small World. This little gem I see every day. I finally took the time to get pics. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...psthrhpnkg.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2...pswarpykii.jpg |

I would had guessed 13-6, but it sure looks tall. Do you have any problems with low Light Signals or low Wires in small towns? Back in the '70's I would go over 13-6 at times. |

Pretty easy, we get 4' overhang off the front and 6' off the end. |
Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
Yeah, I guess the old East Coast is pretty different. When we would run over 13-6, we had to drive it very different. We had to dodge the Light Signals (swing out to the right or left so as not to drive right under them). The worst part was having people look at us a little strange, lol.
Another time I was riding shotgun with about a 13-6, 13-7 load and the driver quickly noticed the wires dancing. I had to get out and climb up on the load (Lumber) and hold the wires while he slowly drove away from them. I knew they were only Phone Wires though as the Electric Wires are higher. I used to haul a full 3 units high on a flatbed and cross an old early 1900's bridge with a toll booth tunnel at the end of it. I think I cleared it by an inch or two. The Chains were another 1 Inch thick and I would wait for them to scrape the ceiling, but they never did. Also anything 4 Ft or longer over the back end required a flag, which is still the norm today. The good 'ol days, lol. |
Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
KQQL IT that trailer is close to the ground. Have you ever been high centered? If not, your a better man than me.
About a month ago I loaded an excavator, and told the guy there "I will have to swing out wide to the left to keep from high centering." I jumped in the truck, went brain dead, and did exactly the opposite of what I intended. It took us about and hour to get it off that hump. I shave the top off of high places on a regular basis. Did it today. |

My 1st week I did, haven't since. The stinger trailers act differently than a semi it turns and goes thru driveways pretty good. When the stinger touches down at 65 the sparks are kinda cool. |
