Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
well its been awhile since I posted anything on my thread! but I got moved to Tulsa, the first of this month! today I drive the two hr. drive or so to go get my truck, had to put the hood hinges on to bolt the hood on! load up a bunch of stuff for the truck to bring back with me! put a steering column together, left my house at 7:30am and didn't get back til 8:15pm. truck is in the garage now! I'm very tired from the drive to and from, and having to fight with just about everything you can think of that has to do with getting a truck home when you don't have everything!
started out, I had reserved a U-Haul auto transport when I got there (after the two hr drive) they didn't have any, all they had was a car dolly! so since I made the drive I wasn't going home without my truck, so I took the car dolly and did what I had to to get my truck up here, and lets not forget the fact it started to pour down rain I mean 30-40mph is all I could do 30 mins. into the drive home! while that's all for now guys and gals, I will post more tomorrow after my sons 4th. birthday party, having quite a few people and family over! going to try and get some sleep and hope tomorrow is a much better day then today was, good nite!! |
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

well a lil update that isn't about the truck! I had quit the job I started last week this Monday, I went into work and they told me they lost two contract and at any time they may tell me they would have to let me go, so I had to quit I need a full time job! a good thing is my buddys wife called me (shes my second cousin) and told me that I need to get over to his shop they had an opening for a grinder that day! it might not have been the job I was applying for but it is a foot in the door! so, I went filled out another app. and started as soon as I got done filling out the app. So anyways I have been there since Monday mourning and like it better then the blasting job I had at the other place! the only bad thing is having to wait three weeks to get a pay check from them, but I will get a check tomorrow from the last job! the wife is happy that I have a full time job this time, and so am I! its like they say when life gives you lemons make lemonade! |
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

anyways here is some pics of the stuff that came in the last two weeks, torque converter lockup from aaw, 18" dual pass trans cooler, cpp adjustable proportioning valve, 3/8-16 button head bolts, and 5/16-18 countersunk bolts that im still waiting on some aluminum m8 fender washers! I copied the idea from modges, they look cool and if they work out like I hope, im going to use them to bolt the rear wheel tubs in! for some reason it uploaded the small pics from my phone |

second part to that question, I like the house, the garage don't leak and I have room to work on it, so yes im happy and it will feel like home! I just got to get this workin 5 1/2 days thing down, I leave the house at 5:30am and don't get home til 5pm, so working on the truck in the middle of the week might not work out just yet! unless its just small stuff I try to do, but its like they say progress is progress no matter how big or small!! |
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
Man, congrats on the move !!!
Once we build our house, I have sworn that I am going to go thru each and every box, and empty it. It is going to take a long time, but everything is coming out. Being the military for most of my adult life, you move every 1 to 4 years. After a while you get to a point where you open a box, glimpse what is inside, reclose it and into the bottom of a closet it goes until the movers come again. We were stationed in Korea in 2000 to 2002, and we still have boxes of books that were packed there. It will be so nice to finally, for once and for all, settle into a place where I never have to wonder if something is still in a box in the closet, or in a storage unit somewhere.... I truely envy you right now, and am so happy for you !! My advice, take your time, cherish this time of getting settled, take lots of photos, and when the itch to work on your truck gets too much, do that to relax !! Rock on dude, I predict that you are SO going to love having a space to work in !!!! |

so any ways, here's a lil update that is not truck related!!
these are some coolers that we make at work, we make a lot of different ones all the way down to small ones like 4hx3wx3l, even bigger ones like in the pictures but are back to back an are called like double coolers, there used for a lot of different things like getting natural gas out of the ground! some are used in the oceans, there pretty cool, im just a grinder for now but will move up, and assemble them and maybe even welded them up |
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

well some more work got done by me and my 2 lil crew helpers, in the pics above the steel floor was pretty nasty with rust from grinding and cutting the bbw out, and dirt and everything else with not covering the floor the right way and letting it set outside! so anyways me and the kids used S.O.S pads and some steel wool with soapy water elbow grease and about 1.5-2 hrs.
I also got a pic of the two grilles hanging on the wall, and the bedsides beside my truck in the garage, steel floor is coated with etching primer in the middle that wasn't covered at all, no pic of that yet! HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE, WITH KIDS OR WITHOUT!!! |
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
Pushing together updates as well…
Good to see ya busy on truck...:metal: |

You and your little helpers are doing a great job.
|
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
very curious about how much work that steel bed will be. i've seen some trucks that they had to weld patches in it because it didn't fit well. you'll do a great job, i'm sure and i like the idea of it so rock-on chad. watching this mod closely.
those kids are getting big, amazing how much they can grow in a year. |
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
I sure do like that one grille.
|
Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
