Well, I'm in the Hospital This has not been a good morning. After spending the last 2 weeks quarantined inside the house, Limited contact with anyone since mid March. Enough is Enough so I decided to go Motorcycle riding, something I haven't done in a long time. It turned out to be a horrible mistake! I got on the motorcycle and started out slowly, or so I tried, but then it got crazy and went a little faster; and faster, before I knew it, we were going as fast as the that bike could go. I couldn't take the pace and fell off, but caught my pants on the foot peg beside the crash bar. I was being dragging and bounced all over the place. The motorcycle just would not stop!
Thankfully the manager at Dollar General came running out and unplugged the machine. Then he actually had the nerve to take the rest of my quarters, so I wouldn't try to ride the damn Fire Truck or Clown Car...
A few scrapes and bruises but nothing was broken. I will wear leather and a helmet next time. Well, the helmet was suggested by the doctor.. and I only have to stay in here for the mandatory 72 hours required by the mental health people..
How many of you actually read what I wrote? If you did, copy and paste for someone else to get a laugh! We certainly need a little humor these days.

Right after I left the assembly plant, my first job in Engineering was at the GM Milford Proving Ground.

I was just a young pup, and I was working with one of the mechanics/technicians on the front end of one of these trucks. While we were working, he sent me over to the tool crib to grab a "pickle fork" for him.

While I was walking across the garage, I was thinking to myself "...geez. Here I am working for the largest, most advanced, most profitable automaker in the world. I can't walk over to the tool crib and ask the guy for a "pickle fork"....he's gonna think I'm some kind of small town hick or something".

I sauntered up to the window and, leaning causually on the window sill, trying to be as cool as possible, I said: "hey, can I have a 'ball joint separator'".

Acting like he didn't hear me, without turning around the crib attendant said "...a what?"

"A ball joint separator" I repeated, my chest puffed out with pride.

Looking confused, he said "You mean a 'pickle fork'?"

I put my head down, ego deflated. "yeah, a pickle fork" I said, sheepishly.

Me too.

In my high school shop class, if we ever had a stupid question about a tool (and yes stupid questions do exist), the shop teacher would just say “two percent”. We all knew that meant you just need to be two percent smarter than the tool you are using.

Coffee. I went to LAX on a trip out of town, went into starsux for a coffee. Yeesh. >u< I dumped it into a drinking fountain to clear the drain and went over to Cinnabon for a real coffee. Not a joke, though.

Yeah, I walked over to a SB with some folks from work one time. Took a couple sips and brought that regular coffee back to the office and thinned it down with about 9 cups of hot water :lol:

And this was out in their home grounds of Washingdone state.

My dad figured out that the little springs in those were perfect for recurving distributors.

You could couldn't find one of those racks in the shop that didn't go "bzzzzttt" and pile the whole towel on the floor.
