Re: My 57 Pro Street
Hey Kim:
Ever thought about a one piece front end? You have the mechanism down. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street

I don't like the angle cuts on the front fenders and sliding the whole front end forward to eliminate that causes a slight problem. I guess I could utilize the hydraulics for it though. Years ago I saw a early 50s chevy wagon that was done that way and it worked pretty good but there was a lot of engineering in it. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
I was thinking about it but have never seen one that was done good. In fact, I have not seen that many.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim: Your fab skills are second to none. I saw that you've used weld on nuts and it gave me an idea on how to improve my upper control arm mounting. I just ordered a couple of packs from motorsportsunlimited312. Your truck is lookin' good. Any updates to show us?

No real updates. Still cleaning up some unneeded holes in the frame so I can send it out to get blasted and then painted. With my son out of school for the summer it gets harder to spend all day in the garage. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
How old is your son? and btw, I think you really need a car lift! ; ) Makes like so much more fun!
dne' |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Our son is 11 years old. We adopted him when he was 6 after being his legal guardians from about the age of 1.
I would love a lift. Unfortunately my garage has bedrooms above it so it isn't high enough. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
What a great age for your son! A lot going on at that age! Is he interested in your workings in the garage? Does he like tinkering?
As for lifts~ I was fortunate when I bought my lift~ it was 1800, now they've gone up a bit, but when I spend thousands here and thousands there on my projects, the cost for my little lift doesn's sound so bad. My garage ceiling is 7'11". Of course my Apache can't go very high. I guess my body just doesn't do well with a car only off the floor 15"s or so. I didn't have my lift until AFTER I was finished with my stang! lol I thought I was finished with car restorations! But I keep having to put the stang on the lift for odds n end servicing. I keep coming back to your build, You're so talented! ; ) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v417/Denee/zlift.jpg |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
nice build, lots of fab work,do you work from prints or just free hand it as it comes along.once again very nice.

Right now I'm trying to find a reasonable price on getting the frame blasted.
Now that I'm close to painting it I'm having trouble deciding on a color. Decisions decisions. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Can you please tell us what that will cost you when all is said and done?

I was hoping to pay less than that but I may just have to bite the bullet and get it done. Kim |

In my city the blasters want 400.00 to blast two fenders and two bed sides. I dont think so.How ever I did find a large powerdcoat and blast frame for 500 to 600.00.Kim your project is going along well.good luck with the blasters.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
hey kim
out here its about 500 to get frame blasted and powder coated - i did my frame in black -it looks good and am happy with it - good luck with yours |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Thanks for the info guys. I don't have the compressor to run a blaster so I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay the price.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
It will be a lot cleaner for you. By the way, a cabinet blaster is fantastic for small parts. I use it all the time, especially after fabing a part.

Question? I did not blast my frame and I was able to clean it up nicely with just good old fashion elbow grease. Is that not an option for you? http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3433/3...a4f34b47d4.jpg |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Hey BAM: Its an option for me. When should I bring my frame over?
