well after a week or so minor leaks in brake system and now all sealed and no leaks :D onto other things steering column is about finished just waiting on a few dress up parts for it and the steering wheel adapter to come home.... very pleased with how its turned out so far lol. Still waiting on original guy to get my other modded column back tome grrrrr!!!!! on another note started back looking for a clutch fan assembly for the water pump that will clear the radiator fans jury is still out found one of a F%%^ exploder that might fit the bill. Its also a heavy duty so nothing bad there but will see...… on that note gave up on getting the aluminum core support functional.... will post more on that soon but say this buy the auto rad one if you want that nice piece of badassery!!

on the aluminum core support.... it would be nice if custom builders WOULD LISTEN!!!!! I told him 1 3/4 inch max width he said oh no 2 inch be find.... here to say BFS all the top panels 1/4 inch out of alignment most importantly the hood latch post I mean dam come on.. after months of arguing I gave up trying to get him to fix it.. wasted 2200 dollars..... honestly knowing this now would have waited the 6 weeks for the auto rad one /sigh oh well lesson learned..... sooo…. got a repop support and started modding it to fit the nice lil radiator he built will find out if it works having my doubts but at least the core work will be ready if I need to go another route..... friend of mine is currently smoothing out the cuts on the repop support but I did get the radiator to fit down in it using the brute force grinder method rotflmao.. smooth it out and see where at next :D
Ifn anyone gets a mind to do similar get plenty of references and not just positive ones he had rave reviews from HIS supplied list uuuggghhhh still have heart burn now over this issue. sorry will stop *****ing now onwards upwards and to the frikkin beyond this aint a set back rather a learning curve.. on another note texas bound this September ready tobe home and start work on my other toys once my kiddo is done :D 66 burb next then rewire the 64 1 ton and put him to work for the wifey!!!!

ok for last three weeks been fighting the emergency brake functioning issue. Well finally got them working... so many lil things you don't realize that go into there design lol. I had to have a longer bar made for the trans mount e brake lever and had to stretch the cables a lil tighter. But they are working now!! so happy 1 step closer to driving him around the block. few other things to finish before that but closer and closer.

Also gas tank mount frame is coming along well also started buying up some white oak for the cover board assemblies. Also started mounting the front bed panel in place for assembling the bed having some frustration with it as the base of it is warped still scratching my head but I will find a way to get it straightened out!!!!

Annnnnnnnddddddd Lastly project nearing its finish few more things still left to do on the billet mirrors but they are flippin gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still have to drill the passenger side door holes for the mirror. to mount that mirror in place will be using some aluminum rivet nuts. The driver side however I found some 5/16-18 reducer nuts so the mirror will mount in the factory spot. The bolts that came with the mirrors are 10-24. Note use the base seals he sends with them the factory ones are way to thin.

Well got the hood on all adjusted then this happens lol.. apparently got the wrong hinge set. apparently there are different weights to the chevy/gmc hoods earlier hoods are 30 some pounds lighter then the later hoods??? who'd a thunk that one lol. Luckily American billet has got my hinges to get the right piston on them should have them back next week sometime!

last things I have been currently working on is getting the gas tank mounted inside the bed and the design for the cover. the toolbox idea did not pan out so back at it again lol. so far the tank is aligned nicely just got to work on the cover and the wiring/plumbing issues! I massaged my extra set of suburban fuel tank straps to hold the tank solidly in place to the support frame turned out nice. now to find the rest of the wood needed for the cover....

well getting ready to mount the bedsides got these lil beauties in hand for once that happens. Also once bedsides are on figure out the tank plumbing and wiring and get the done. after that keep working on the tank cover lol.. Got more oak in for the cover got the base boards done just need to do rest of the side covers for it. lots more to go but soon be able to at least drive around the block and check engine for codes. It was running rough the first few starts so maybe a miss fire? not sure yet will find out lol :D

Have not had time update what with the move back to texas and all. Will be working on updating here soon. Lots has happened some good some horrible. Looks like I will be learning to paint a friend is offering to teach me how. After the 8grand fiasco with the supposed trustyworthy painter I am few up and going to learn on my own. I was able to drive him around the block but apparently either have tuning issues or fuel issues its running really rough. transmission is acting funny as well /sigh Mechanic buddy from dallas will be coming down to plug in his scanner and see if we van figure things out sometime in October!\\Cheers Guys

Ok finally at a place I can edit and throw up some photos! Body guy was a waste of 8k and time as you will see in the pics. orange peel rough patches totally screwed on paint. I have a friend in Dallas that's going to come down and help me get this straightened out soon enough. Right now saving pennies for an exhaust system to get the engine lined out lol 2 sets of fouled plugs since o2 sensors are misreading at the moment lol :D

I also recently finished up the tail light harness and have it ready. Just waiting on backup lamp housing and other parts to come in and get things checked out on lighting :D so pumped when I get this finished. Also crawled up under the truck as the transmission was bucking a bit and found out either A the crossmembers bolts broke off or B I forgot to put bolts back in it lol. Fixing that as we speak. After I get that dealt with going to re look at the Silverado parking brake issue. when the engine is in drive it rolls forward grrrrr…. So I either don't have them adjusted right or the cables are not tight enough. more to come on that one lol!!!!

Well its been awhile things in a few spots have changed. had to go back over a few projects till I was completely happy with them. Also things like carpet finally bit the bullet and had a shop do it due to the frustrations at the time. interior is now almost 90% there now. Currently working on getting a backup camera in place and wired in since I had a spare one laying around from another truck project that came into my life lol. but to start off with updates. Engine and transmission are working great.... Buttttttt the fancy racing trans cooler does not like 165 PSI from the allison pump. So that will be on the soon to fix list after I finish the interior installation. got a couple more things to finish there.

Sean
enjoy the pictures :D

and carpet pictures as I said have had problems with every acc carpet I have bought so decided to take it to a shop in Longview texas and for 700$ they gave me an awesome carpet job. they went all the way up the firewall and in addition did the transmission high hump separate. That way if needed I can pull it to get to sensors on the allison transmission alot easier lol

and the console is finally specced in and working nicely. had to make some panel adjustments due to the thickness of the carpet setup but totally happy with all of it :D also gauges are in and working... Here's the thing with speedhut gauges... you have to use their shielded sensor wires.. :/ got everything all plugged into the my nice pretty home built wiring harness and was getting no readings from any of my gauges other then voltage. /sigh all fixed now using their ugly wires. now everything is working great except fuel gauge lol. the speedhut reads 30 as empty and 240 as full... GM silverado tanks are backwards from that so going to have to program the fuel gauge soon

also they cheap ebay headlights with additional driving light work very nicely.. grill is done and mounted on the truck. just need to get the head light bezels powder coated and installed. I love how the silverado grill emblems turned out....... which means if I get a set of the back lit ones I can plug them in on the truck lol... maybe more to come on that one still debating it lol

Well been a busy critter last couple of months. Interior panels about finish just need a tweak or two. Was having a hard time finding a spot to mount the trailer brake controller so I got a lil fancy and just made a mount plate for where the old radio was located at. Turned out nice. The face panel for the console I need to redo the mounting brackets and will get to that here soon. oh don't that switch hanging out I will get to fixing that eventually. The switch does not work if fully seated in the housing grrrrr... flopping loose it works just fine lol. I can now say the electric spare tire winch is in full working capacity finally :D lifted to tire no issues. once I get my spare wheel done it will be up under the truck.

And the most recent issue I have been tackling is the transmission cooler leaking grrrr. Laminova racing coolers do not like the Allison transmission pump pressure at all. Kept finding fresh transmission fluid leaking to the bottom of the bumper. Thought it was an AN fitting on the extra cooler but nope end of the racing cooler blew its seals. So contacted PRC radiator company and he built me this one with a -10 fitting oil cooler lifetime warranty and price was very reasonable. So currently working on getting the core support all back in and redoing a few trans lines as well.

Happy getting closer to semi street legal driving :P. I am figuring once the nose and grill is back in place get my antique registration done and take him for a drive in the local area. I am so wanting to test out the manual shift circuit on the allison 6 speed. I am hoping I built the circuit right.

Have not posted in awhile so thought to throw some updates. Truck is running and driving just have a few computer codes to work out.. Glass is done for the windshield and rear window. The precision rear window seals from southwest classics is too thick for my original rear window so the glass shop cut a fresh piece of laminate for him turned out really nicely :D

And the other update the grill is finally all done and complete on the truck and I am very happy with how it came out. The bezels I had a local powder coater work his magic on and they look really nice in the chrome grill. Middle emblems ttuned out really good as well. found it at a junkyard a few years ago lol
