No progress on axles today, swapping the jeep over from major big block/mud bogger to small block street-maybe legal 4x4 is taking longer than he thought. Don't get me wrong, it's almost ready, went for a short ride tonight, it was awesome! Working on customers stuff in between, should have some progress tommorrow!

Good progress. I just had my D60 hot tanked a few days ago and need to put some paint on it and start assembly.

Getting some stuff done. Early you talked about a twin stick transfer case. I know that you don't have one yet. I am trying to figure out what the two sticks are for? Thanks. Sorry about the bad wording of my question. How much lift are you planing on running?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Thank's guy's! I am so excited that things are actually ripping on this project after so long! Checked in at CHAOS today and looks like we have a slight delay. Lower part of steering knuckles have a needle bearing and seal that needs to be replaced-both sides on the dana60. Rare part I'm told, about a week to get them at about $200.00! Also, sandblaster shop guy is on vacation for a few days, but it's all good! So far about $600.00 into front and rear rebuild, including the lower bearing kits. Oh, that doesn't account for the $$ spent on Ballistic high steer/crossover, and the rear disc conversion. But it is awesome to see some progress on this, and I have a few months here before the snow flies. Looking at October as a trail run date, so am staying focused on this project! I will post up some some pic's asap!

Thas seems high for the lower kingpin bearing and race... let me look around... there is a link to a parts list...

here is a link ..

here is one example... $70 per side ... there are also master rebuild kits... I guess it depends on what you were getting for the $200.

So far, I did a search, and gonna stay with my local brother and go CHAOS! Lower king pin rebuild kits for both sides, 2 bills- hopefully-1 time!

I'm back. Been on vacation out on the Muskegon river with family and friends for our annual camp trip! Checked in with CHAOS off road, and axle upgrades are coming along nicely. Update early this week, turns out the 14 bolt corp has a GOV lock in it-sweet! Good for now, until lower gear swap! Had so much fun this week, John brought the Jeep out for some trailrides, very fun! Will get some pic's soon of the Dana60 and corp14 bolt coming together!

Very good! CHAOS got my axle parts blasted, and ready for primer and paint, almost. Had stuff all blasted and on a pallet ready to go, when surprise rainstorm comes thru. Got a little surface rust, but nothing we can't deal with. Parts look real good! Prep, primer and paint tommorrow! Some pic's that I could get for now!Attachment 970914

Parts look good! Flash rust is pretty easy to deal with. depending on what you're painting with it can help it "bite"

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

John went back to work driving truck the last couple of days, so no progress on axles. That's ok, I have made more progress on them in the last two weeks than I have made on them in the last two years, so I am very happy!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Not a lot of progress today, but some. Got the inner axle seals installed and most of the rear axle housing cleaned out and ready to go! No pic's, probably next week sometime!

Kinda bumming here, no progress. John is working out of town, and shop is closed down for now. It won't be long and he'll be back for the fall and winter months! Working on saving up some funds for that!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

A little bit of progress today. I saw John's son at the shop today, so I stopped in. They have my new Spicer axle joints installed in my front Dana60 outer axle shafts! One step closer! Yeah!!

Anybody know where you can buy the front fender emblems that are custom?Looking for a set that are [8 383], not [8 350]. Looking to drop the vette motor in and want the proper badges. 383 stroker motor, yep, want it to be custom!

No news on the axles. Been looking at custom seats, trying to decide, Corbeau-or mastercraft. Going with a full rollcage, so looking at actual height of seats. Any pic's of this area guy's? Thinking of going with Corbeau's Baja XP seats because they are a little higher than most. Also Corbeau has a dealer in Mi., no too far away from home. Anybody?

Allright, been bored and doing inventory of my body replacement metal. Looks like I'm good to go to the welder except for this area.Passenger side rear tailgate-bedside around the tail light area. Drivers side is not so bad, I think I can save it. Does anyone repro this area? Looked around alot, and found nothing. Looks like I need a donor panel to weld in? Here's some pic's of the PO's bodywork. Any ideas guy's?Attachment 1014200

Not on topic, but just wanted to wish everyone and thier families a HAPPY THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY! Heard from John and we had to reblast the steering knuckles, the orange paint just didn't work out. Need to press in the lower kingpin bearings and finish assembling both axles. Any ideas on the rear taillight bedside fix area?

Not much new here, but Santa did deliver a new waterproof/indoor-outdoor cover for the K5! Picked it up new for less than $50.00 on e-bay!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Thank's for the tip Hill! Looked, and looked, and looked. I really need the tailight sections of the rear quarter panels to weld in. Found on e-bay, the goodmark tailight panel patch 30" high x 9 1/2 " long. That would work for me, but they only list the drivers side panel. Also went to Goodmarks site, and same thing, no passenger side patch panel for that side. I would buy both sides if I could find them. If I could find those patch panels, I think I could save the rest of my outer bedsides with some massaging! Anybody got help here?

Thank's 71, and welcome to the board! Any more pic's of your rigs? Staying in touch with my friend John at CHAOS offroad, hopefully get back to working on my axles soon! Started working on cleaning up my np205 transfer case for the swap, a lot of dirt and grease buildup on outside of case. Want to clean up the exterior and get a decent coat of paint on it before resealing it and installing it when the axles go in. I guess I had better finish putting my new kerosene heater together to warm up the barn!
