Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I didn't notice the snorkle. I went back and looked, it's not that bad. Blazer engine and body are looking good. Those wheels are a lot of work but I bet they come out nice.

yeah, them wheels took a few hrs to do...lol then i did'nt even use the steelie for the spare, found a chrome spoke, using it instead pluggin'along..... Attachment 1593552Attachment 1593554Attachment 1593555 made a spare tire mount for the bumper, but i aint going to use it. without the topper on to visually shorten the truck, it looked weird hanging off the bumper- way too long, too much overhang....so made a quick little mount for inside the truck Attachment 1593556 Attachment 1593557 hoping to splash some color on the body today or tomorrow.. |

remember this....1/2 an hr ago Attachment 1593629 and 5 minutes ago.... Attachment 1593631 hoping to find a spare cab before the blaze is done, would really like to make an extended cab out of this. if i can't find a cab, was also thinking of scratching up an old skool style camper for it....after it all comes out of the dot 3...lol Attachment 1593633Attachment 1593634 |
Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Blazer is looking cool. I can't wait to see it painted. The old green will be cool.

had a couple screw-ups with the blaze. the dana 20 was to small for the lift and put the d-shaft right threw the trans crossmember and a couple other things. the '72's could come with a 205, so that's what it got and it clears everything beautifully now Attachment 1594520 same wit the steering, crossover was hitting everything....so, dropped pitman & draglink, & a raised steering arm with a small steering block under it Attachment 1594521 halfway threw the paint, third coat, one more, then clear it up. something oily must have got on the hood. tried to paint my way out of it, made a mess, tried sanding it out, bigger mess, so it's in the stripper right now, will try it again... Attachment 1594506Attachment 1594507 but i'm loving the stripper right now, check out most of the '50....happy with how clean it came out, just have to clean up the glue joints Attachment 1594508 |
Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Both are looking great, love the orange. I can't believe how good the dot 3 did. It looks brand new.

yup, i was impressed with how clean this one came out, no sanding...yayyy!
well i was going to finish the blaze today or tomorrow, but now i'm having a conundrum with it....just scored some parts for a blazer today, right out of the blue, was not even really lookin'.... the '72 grille came with the kit, the '69 i just scored. the '72 bumper & grille are separate pieces, the '69 is all one, but the pass corner is damaged, so cut it off & use the kit bumper. decisions....:smoke: Attachment 1594746 and usually a fan of base line trucks, no chrome or trim.....and i went and sanded all the molded trim off the blaze...look what else i got....hmmmmm tempting. Attachment 1594748 and a topper. pretty good shape, was black, hit it with some white.... Attachment 1594749 also got some mirrors, the kit dont come with any (?!?) set of stock tires & tinted glass. any thoughts on any of this. purdy sure i'm liking the '69'er... Attachment 1594750 |

was fartin' around with the '50 while deciding what to do with the blaze.
nuthing fancy, drill out the bed rails and making it a small back window only cab. Attachment 1594751Attachment 1594752 |
Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I though nk the 69 grill just to be different. I would use the side trim too. I would leave the roll bar loose so you can change your display every now and then.

would'nt mind one more later and build it as a Jimmy, always been fond of the 67-72 gm grille. and i threw the hose in.. Attachment 1596561 and i have been searching for another '50 so i could make a super cab, but after weeks of looking, no success. unless i want to pay $60 or more with ship & exchange & customs.....and all i really need is just the back of the cab & the running boards- just cant justify the cost for that ...:waah: (aint telling the wife, but i already got about $40-50 in aftermarket for it, tires, axles, etc) but i do have plenty of styrene.... except for angle, which i need more of... so, taken a different route with the '50 Attachment 1596557Attachment 1596558Attachment 1596559Attachment 1596560 |

snow, or more so the cold has been causing me nothing but grief on my '90 stepper Dale. doors keep freezing shut, pulled the weatherstrip off a couple times, tried getting the canopy lid open and the drivers handle snapped in half, then it bagged my starter, had to walk a couple miles home in -10 windchill....:waah:
so i said the hay with it, parked it, & re-insured the crewcab yesterday. half to use 4 hi a lot, in 2wd the locker keeps kickin' it sideways :metal::metal: and i got 3 teeth done, 6 left. dentist fixed the half broken one, ripped out the nerves & re-capped it, and root canaled 2 others, shoved them back up, and fixed the chips on them. need 3 implants, their next. got held up cause a 3d scan showed up a fracture in my jaw where the teeth broke below the gum line . so thursday she jammed a screw in there & shot in some silicone, cement, mastic, whatever it was...give it some time, then she will try doing the implants.....woo-hoo, 2 more root canals coming up.. in 3 visits she has jammed me with a needle 23 times!, but thats my fault, i told her i WANT "gentle dental".... and have got a couple things done on the camper, just making axles for the truck furnace and fridge vents are on, lites, ladder, and the glass is in, it's just clean at the moment, hard to see...lol Attachment 1600745Attachment 1600746Attachment 1600747Attachment 1600748Attachment 1600749 |

going to see her this friday...(dentist, man, almost 45 yrs without seeing one, then the last 5 yrs here.....jeebus...:waah:) and we finally broke above freezing! still got a lot of snow though- blah! stupid thing, after all this snow for the last couple weeks, today me & the boy are going up the Coquihalla....in the snow... got a couple trucks for christmas, hobby store nearest us has a real hurtin' selection of chevy's, but wife snagged me the wrecker, and my son got me the '41. half to figure out what i'll do with the '41, wrecker is easy- another "Alpine off road recovery" truck for the fleet :metal: Attachment 1603608 son also got me this KX (almost an exact match for my old 1:1 KX) detailed it up a bit, mite use it on the '50 on a front hitch mount, but i think it's a 1/32. in my eyes it seems a little off scale. i'll wait and see Attachment 1603611Attachment 1603612 not a lot done on the truck, been doing other stuff. body work is 95% there though Attachment 1603609Attachment 1603610 |

it seems the smaller you go, the bigger the price gets...almost a hundred bucks for just a few accessories, so i been getting creative (spell cheap...) my sink is an Advil pill blister pack, not sure what the "fridge" is or from what, stove is scratched out of plastic with speaker wire grilles, and you dont really want to know where the fabric came from... ok, i'll tell ya, the ONLY blueish material that was kinda to scale in my whole house, was a pair of my "used" fruit of the looms (just dont sniff it..:lol:) still need to add curtains (not F.O.t L.'s) and some camper jacks, and whatever else pops into my head Attachment 1603623 Attachment 1603624Attachment 1603626Attachment 1603627Attachment 1603628 |

I got a question. Are you stripping the paint off of a painted model? If so what is your process? Thanks.

Castrol Super clean is your friend, the purple stuff. fill up a tupperware tub and let it soak, rinse off with cold water. usually soak a couple days for a easier strip Attachment 1605437Attachment 1605439 and for tougher paint, good 'ol DOT 3. same process as the purple, and rinse it with cold water too Attachment 1605438 a lot depends on how the paint was applied, and what kind. some tougher paints (marine) i have soaked parts for a week and still have to scrub the old stuff off. the castrol also strips chrome off any model part in about 15 mins if you dont like flash on your models. |

things were cruising along nicely. changed the trans crossmember to fit the 427, just squeaks in on the inner fenders (with some tweaking) good clearance on the rad, but i did'nt check the exhaust :dohh: six'er is a lot narrower then the 427. Turbo is much wider too Attachment 1607230 exhaust is now banging on the frame...one thing the '50 has is real good vertical clearance under the hood. going to raise the motor mounts a bit, and prob put a tiny notch the frame Attachment 1607235Attachment 1607236 started on the int. pretty much stock. just added the shifters and turn signal Attachment 1607237Attachment 1607238 |
