Re: What did you do to your truck today!
When you get to the "punch card", you're well on your way! I've been watching your build and it's really nice to see you working towards the ultimate realization of your plans and dreams. All too often people give up on their projects...doesn't look like that's happening here. Keep after it, we are watching and you are providing a lot of motivation for some of the other builders. Thanks, and good luck. It won't be long now! don :metal::metal::metal:

I finsally got off my duff and installed my powerbrakes ~ note the correct GM vacuum hose and clips , brackets etc. ~ it took me a while to find the bell crank and related parts , they're in good shape but were nearly frozen having never been greased when new .
Lucky there was no wear , all I had to do was take it all apart & wire brush then grease everything and Lo ! I now have killer good brakes and am happy . |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed a new fuel pump and replaced the rubber lines while I was at it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Tore most of the wires out yesterday since the p.o. spray painted straight over them all... It would be nice if the horn didn't go off when I turned too hard haha

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
So far today,
installed plug wires, installed water temp probe, connected carb linkage and such, sprayed primer on new valve covers. Aost ready to fire and break in new engine! Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Got my front brake hoses in and found new banjo bolts, and ordered a shiny new set of headers that hopefully fit :) I had the headers next day aired so that I'll have something to work on on the 4th! Nothing like an American tradition of working on your truck

I guess it's the same for all of us. I seem to get about a half or less done than I think I should every "wrenching day".
Today, I planned to get all the wiring done in the cab. Instead, the gage cluster is still out and laying on the floor. But I did get the wiring done and finished for the cig lighter (no smoking in the truck...but it'll get used for all the silly electronic stuff ...like recharging the phone...), glove box light, patch in for the driver's electric seat, finish connections at the fuse block for the windows, panel lights, a couple of grounds, dead-ended a few of the P.O.'s scragglers, and organized the wiring. I'm hoping the gage cluster, aside from the tach connections, will be plug and play. Should be, I've mocked it up five times. But you all know how THAT goes. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today, I got the hood ready for primer (epoxy) in the morning----along with that I got both front fenders sanded down, putty touched up, inside of fenders sprayed with chassic coat---and they are ready for primer as well in the morning. Have to primer early before the heat rises. Within the last week I finished up the step side bed, fenders, tailgate , etc and got the epoxy primer on them . Should get the cab back soon------ my "solid" cab ended up needing inner, outer rockers as well as kick panels and both floor sections. Oh, and work to the air boxes on both sides!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
You know what, nothing to my truck but a little abuse, used to working on it "every" day for the last 4 months, but today cruised and enjoyed it, finally.

I got my front clip off so I can swap out the old tired crate motor for the 1970 LT1 out of my camaro. Just need to finish cleaning and painting before I can get the motor back in it.
