After over a year of being apart for lotsa changes, I have power once again!
Everything confirmed working, except the tach. (Have not started the engine yet) Vintage Air with DDC-4000 controller. I made the control panel out of a block of aluminum, and installed a couple of push buttons. The one lit up is for the electric fan over ride, working. The other is for the electric fuel pump. (Off in the picture, but I did test it.) Words can't explain how excited I am! |

I should clarify...I used the stock temperature controller, and gutted it. The aluminum block/panel you see is sitting inside the stock controller, held in place by the DDC-4000 mounting brackets. It really turned out good, I think. The block of aluminum was like $20-$25. No welding in patch panels, or paint matching. |

Went and picked up my rear brake drums from a friend who had blasted and painted them, with VHT Caliper Pain, as it drove me nuts since I installed the TT2's seeing the crusty drums through the spokes. Callipers were painted when front end was rebuilt last Winter.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Working on these vehicles can be jumping down a rabbit hole. I borrowed a ball joint press and got the old joints out. That’s when I noticed some play in the A arm shafts. So I will order new upper and lower A arm shafts. Fortunately Rock Auto has a great price on them, but it all adds up.
It will be worth it when it’s done. I was able to get all the A arms, shafts and removed out steering components. Will clean up what isn’t being replaced. |

Waited for my Son to come home for Christmas, so he could be there for the first fire up of the new engine.
He took a video of it. Exhaust just has a 45* piece on each collector to direct the exhaust away from under the truck. https://youtube.com/watch?v=CmFBpei_...S_eN7smUFW8V8n |

But I have never been able to leave anything stock. I bought the truck four years ago...it was running and so had changes done to it...but not even being able to start, and drive it for over a year, has been very hard. I never intended for it to take that long, but it just snowballed all at once. Quote:

Since I had the A arms off to replace the shaft, I thought I would clean them up. I wire wheeled the major crud off, glass beaded them, and painted.

Got the exhaust done up to the mufflers, and called it a day.
But what's a post without pictures and video?! 3" exhaust with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. Lol...gonna need a new oil pressure gauge with a higher range. The 0 to 60 psi ain't gonna cut it. https://youtu.be/1GsllcchyT8?si=rimvyzTB5SdpH166 |

Cleaned and painted the center link. I setup the new tie rods to match the length of the old ones. Then bolted them to center link.
Installed new ball joints and control arm shafts. Wire wheeling front frame area to get ready to paint. I ordered new control arms u bolts from LMC, they sure take their sweet time getting my order ready before they ship it. How hard can it be to scrounge up 4 bolts and toss them in a box??? |
Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
