But then you would have to spend all of your time fighting crime.

I think you will have to decide for your self if you want to use your powers for good or evil

The weather in the UK has been wierd, it's been over 70 degrees, a record for February, we sometimes don't see 70 in June . Anyway good news for me, it's always easier to paint when the weather is warmer so I got the door painted, it turned out OK
Attachment 1881520 Because the petrol tank is now under the bed I need to blank off the filler hole, now I know the pre-cut panels are only $10 but by the time I pay postage and taxes it could cost be 3 times that to get it here in the UK. So time to be creative, A little trick when needing a curved panel it to do a pre-bend using a vice. Attachment 1881521 I made a template by covering the hole with masking tape and tracing around the hole with a pencil I then stuck that onto the pre-bent steel Attachment 1881522 and cut out the shape, it doesn't have to be perfect. Attachment 1881523 And then welding it into the truck, I'll hopefully get it prepped and painted at the same time as the door check and the rear of the cab. Attachment 1881524 |

Looking good Ian. Door looks good. I managed to damaged the paint on one of mine yesterday. I have to open it over a wall and I didn't take into account my bulk inside when I was wiring. Door dropped just enough to hit the wall, so Ive some painting to do.
Gas filler repairs look good. Good tip on bending it first. Wish Id done that. I welded it in the top first then bent it into shape in place once it was hot. |

And speaking of small steps, I have the door check and cab back panel to paint before I reassemble the cab. While sanding I discovered some bondo.... you know what comes next, a hole :( Attachment 1888118 It wasn't actually as bad a the passenger side was so was a relatively quick repair, the usual cardboard template transferred to steel and welded in place. Attachment 1888119 Attachment 1888120 I got it and the fuel filler into primer Attachment 1888122 Attachment 1888123 |

A very quick update, I got the drivers door back on, it fits well. After the repairs it had thats always a relief. I painted the pillar and the rear of the cab too it’s funny but with the doors back on it feel like I’m moving in the right direction again

I try to keep my "non-truck" posts to a minimum but thought I would share these pictures.
I was lucky enough to be in Washington DC for Easter, I'll be the first to admit I don't go to church as often as I should but go Easter and Christmas for definite, so we had wondered what we would do this year. In England the Easter Sunday services tend to be late morning or early evening, however, we discovered that the Capitol Church were holding a sunrise service on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial starting at 06:30 and have done it every year for the past 41 years. Sharing the sermon and listening to the choir (with a couple of thousand very friendly strangers) while watching the sunrise was a experience I will remember for the rest of my life, it was truly moving and by the time we sang amazing grace there wasn’t a dry eye amongst the many thousand there. I’ve posted a few pictures below Attachment 1898046 Attachment 1898047 Attachment 1898048 Attachment 1898049 Attachment 1898050 |

I can't believe it's more than a year and a half since I last updated my build thread. Work has been progressing slowly and lockdown has created a bit of time but here in the UK not good availability of parts. So the last time a posted the truck looked pretty much like this.
Attachment 2057703 Brakes are now complete, rears rebuilt Attachment 2057704 And fronts 'blinged up' a bit Attachment 2057705 The bedsides had the usual rot where the wood meets the metal, I couldn't decide if I should repair or replace but the times scales for delivery of bedsides to the UK were so long that made my mind up for me, repair it was Attachment 2057706 Attachment 2057707 |
