Re: Lost My 65
Keeping with my cheap paint so I can use it as a truck, I finally painted inside the bed.

Tell us more about your paint inside the bed.......

Re: Lost My 65
Just cheap Rustoleum Gloss Black.

Re: Lost My 65
Don't you mean inexpensive paint?
Cheap paint sounds so... cheap ;-) :5150: |

I really have always had good experience with Rustoleum. Much of the redneck body repairs with bondo brand body filler and old rustoleum paint survived all these years since I sold her 25+ years ago. Doing it again now should last me until I'm 75. :D - It's a truck. |
Re: Lost My 65
I put some clear on the hood to see if I like it.
I'm not sure. http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...pscbtc8jmt.jpg http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...pskb3xugcv.jpg |
Re: Lost My 65
Love the 65. I might be a little prejudice about the color :)

Re: Lost My 65
Decided to adjust the brakes.
Couldn't get the star to turn, so I took the drum off to see what the issue was. Found a spring was preventing the star from turning. http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...pseaylgjv3.jpg.. . Inspected everything while I had it apart. The older man who had it took great mechanical care of it.. . . http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...psokxfmgwy.jpg http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...psd3bmxe8z.jpg http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...psmsp3tyeb.jpg . . It appears everything is pretty new. Even the tierods. jacked one wheel up and then the other, trying to wiggle things, and everything is solid but some play in the steering box. |
Re: Lost My 65
It's a good feeling when you know the guy before you took pride in taking care of your ride as well.

Re: Lost My 65
I'm starting to think that spring is supposed to be down against the star to keep it from rotating on its own. The problem is it was so deep in the grove of the star, I couldn't get the star to turn using the brake adjusting tool through the back slot.

Re: Lost My 65
No that spring shouldn't be like that. Flip it around so that the spring is above the star.
|
Re: Lost My 65
Yep, catainfab is right. Spring was installed backwards. The coils of the spring will hold the star wheel in place, but still allow it to be adjusted. Great story btw. I know you said it was an hour from you but which way? I'm in boring so i'm not very far from you.

Trying to set a realistic goal for the winter.
Of all the upgrades I plan/hope to do, I think I'll make swapping out the sm420 for the th350 along with the auto column the major goal for the winter. |
Re: Lost My 65
Ahhhhhh Yes... the ever popular SM420. .. in the shadow of today's technology... its a great boat anchor.. :-)
I applaud your decision. . |
Re: Lost My 65
I have been completely out of touch with your thread, and I couldn't even say for how long. I was subscribed to your thread at some point, and I have no idea when, why, or how I became unsubscribed. I will have to go back to the beginning and catch up to where you are today.

Re: Lost My 65
That trans swap should be reasonable to accomplish over the winter.

Thank you!
I don't stop appreciating I have her back. :) |
Re: Lost My 65
Work has just kept me too busy to get anything done on my 65.
Stinkin mouse made himself a home just above the cowl vent. :( http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...psbe606sr7.jpg |
Re: Lost My 65
Little bastards, I found a couple small dead ones under mine awhile back, that's what really motivated me to get it back together and on the road. Surely this nice weather we're having is giving you the itch to get it out on the road....

Re: Lost My 65
Another winter gone by and I still haven't got my sm420 swapped out to the th350. :-(
I at least did a little tinkering here and there. http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4ukuep1g.jpg |
