That would be cool, huh? What about adding the 4th door and making both rear doors suicide? Imagine how cool that would look at a show with all the doors open and the rear hatch up!

Well, you might as well do LFD's forward-tilt hood too!

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

You see what's happening here? This was supposed to be a "could have been factory" type build. Then I decided the hatch "could have been" made one-piece from the factory (minus the gas-struts). Then I thought since I already put a 476 in it that the "could have been factory" would apply only to the body. So I went ahead and notched the rear and bagged it. Now I might just have to throw that whole concept out the window

We'll see. Things could change a lot when "Tubby" gets kicked out of the garage for the 61 to go in...

Met up with a couple board members at the PIR cruise-in last week. That's Brad's 67 shorty converstion next to Tubby (thanks for the pics Brad):

Ok, some real work...

I finalized the routing of all the air, fuel, and brake lines. Before clamping everything in place I covered the fuel and air lines with nylon braided sheathing similar to what's used on aircraft wiring.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1189097466

I figured out where I wanted to put the floor cross-sill and cut holes for the body-bushings as can be seen in the last pic.

Then I shortened the cross-sill (only one side had to be cut bc the other side was already short to make room for the spare tire well), and notched it for the tank.

All of this will be blown apart again for POR-15'ing
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1189097466

Then I cut the temp ply-wood to fit and bolted it in.

...and as can be seen in the last couple pics, I finally got around to building the drive-shaft tunnel.

First I used half of a 5" OD 1/4" wall tubing section (2.5" wide) to reconnect the floor brace/seat mount.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...g?t=1189097466

Then I built the tunnel in two sections.

Still need to cover the frame cut-outs, but I can tell you that floor section around the tunnel is STRONG!

Good Job on The Tunnel & Sheathing, You at one Time said you were Going to Do the Rear Floor similar to the Pick up with Oak Strip's, Is that still Planned? If So, What are your Plan's to Cover the Frame rework area?

Thanks Again For The Inspiration, Rick

Yep, that's still the plan. I already have the wood kit and chrome strips :metal: But I'll probably just mock it up with the wood kit (it's pine) then have nice pieces made in teak or Ipe. I need to move the rear tubs up a few inches to make room for the 22's. Then I'll make a notch cover out of metal that goes all the way across from tub to tub. It'll either be painted body color or covered to match the inner panels (tan vinyl like the kick panels or...?).

Made one of the frame covers/floor sections and burned it in. The other side should be cake now that I have a good pattern.

Getting close, and it's looking awesome! When done, are you going to go back to the same colors it was before it became a hoe?

Oh, and I love the avatar pic too!!

Hey man, just because she's promiscuous doesn't mean she's a hoe

Ya, I'm going with the scheme on page one/post #1, but with white also below the lower trim. I need to re-install PS and do another render.

:agree: Had it not been for this place, I probably would have towed mine out back after it got hit. It would probably still be sitting out there too! I learn something new almost every day here.

On the other hand, it can be a bad thing too. My truck isn't just another truck anymore. And Frizz's burb, well........ it turned into a hoe! :haha:

Lookin good Frizz!!

That looks great Frizz! I'll bet most people will never notice it. On one hand it kinda sucks when people don't notice things you have spent a lot of time on, but on the other it tells you that you accomplished your goal of keeping it stock looking. Which in a way is just as rewarding. Great work!

FF. I have been away from the boards for a while, but came back and saw the awesome work you have done. Maybe I can use the final image to convince the wife to get rid of the Trailblazer and make a Tahoe. Might be neat to stuff the guts of the TB into a Tahoe.

You could always run the wheel tubs across to cover the notch, then you could go 335 or bigger in the rear. Might need them to handle the power!! :metal:

Thanks Brent.

Trailblazer interior would probably work really well. I wonder if GM would let you use an On-Star subscription if your transferred the system over...:metal:

I haven't posted much on this thread lately but I haven't stopped working. I built a leaf guard, I'm modifying my 68 fenders, and I spent two days removing undercoating from the 68 hood (what a PITA!).

So my next big milestone is putting the 68 clip on. :D

Here's the 68 hood. I think I'd rather buy a new one than do that again...

Took the braces off and went through it with a wire wheel and cup to be sure ALL that garbage was removed. This way I can chrome them if I want to and bolt em back on with some nice SS hardware. Next step is solvent!

15 lbs of undercoating:
