little more done today..i made my own filler plate for the passenger side...and i shouldve just ordered one from nate lol

it wasnt too hard making a template..but i believe i warped the crap out of the metal. i planned on using tig rods to make the round edge, so now im hoping this straightens some of it out too. still have to grind some of the edges down to get a better shape..but you get the idea. heres a few pics..

hoping to finish this up tomorrow...maybe by then i will make up my mind about the oil sending line hole and wiper hole ;)

now im thinking i might as well clean and paint the subframe..but i REALLY dont want to. damn how these projects turn into snowballs!

cool! whats the plans for it?

stopped by lowes today to buy some tig rods. i took a page from nates book...lined one up along the edge of the backside..welded it up. supposed to make it look like a curved look like the original lip along the top of the firewall. im happy how it turned out, and it also help straighten out my warped crap i did earlier lol. just needs a little filler to finish it off!

i thought about capping it off but i really dont want to do all that work and grinding! im happy with the holes i filled up on it, so it should at least look "smooth" lol

hoping to finish off grinding and stripping it today!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

shot some primer yesterday..only got to spray one coat because it started raining outside. i was having problems with my gun, it wouldnt spray nice and even, couldnt get on the bottom of the underside.. and also the primer came out real shiney because it had been sitting for a few months. i will take it to a paint shop to get it shook before spraying again.

hoping to lay some filler tomorrow or sunday!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

hoping to get it all smoothed out this weekend so i can shoot my tractor paint acrylic enamel! i bought this gallon of paint last year for my wheels and interior and firewall...so far i just used it on my rims. hoping this paint holds up well..the rims came out pretty nice i think.

will have some progress pics after the weekend! im also thinking of changing the body color to red with the interior to black. main and probably my only reason is because i will attempt my own body work and what not..and we all know black is not forgiving!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

wasnt feeling comfortable with the high spots that showed up after guidecoating..so i tried tapping some down..and laid one last skim coat this morning. i blocked it down with 80...then a few times with 180 to smooth it out. heres a pic after the 180 and i started laying some glaze in a few spots (the green spots). will get back on it in the morning and should be spraying some primer tomorrow!

Very nice progress.

Are you going to put an A/C system back in there?

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

i would like to at some point..i really dont care for a heater, but i have rode around before without ac for a few years...and living in texas, it sucks!

i would like to put a vintage unit in sometime..but i may try to rig something up just to get cool air moving around in there..maybe an under dash unit. if i had a thousand bucks to blow..i think i would rather spend it on a drop member :)
