Spending money at this rate is painful but I knew it was coming and it was the sole reason for selling off a my swb 4x4 project truck, so I 'would have' a little cash to throw at this build, cause yeah...it adds up freakishly fast!

That is part of my problem VT. I have all this race car stuff scattered all over west Tn. and I can't sell it without losing $75 on the $100. I priced my 72 Nova at $7000 rolling, and best offer was $5000. Hell I've looked at bone stock rollers and been asked more for them. I'm gonna shut up before I ruin the good mood I'm in.

What the heck is that orange thing in the corner of the garage behind the axle?? It needs bigger tires. BTW...it was 80* here today.

Oh yeah...and the axle looks great. Now put it back together.

Weekend update:

Only got one side of the D60 parts cleaned up & painted, a lot due to taking the time out to finish up the work bench.

Got tired of it being 'sorta' done, the vise was clamped on and kept moving and the table top was warping for some reason, so I stopped and took care of it.
Used angle iron for the corners and a couple pieces of flat stock for the centers.
Simple but still took awhile by the time everything was done and put away, pretty much ended the day in the shop with it.

Any progress is good progress.

Those little projects can eat up time very quickly.

I am sold, I need a D60, the JY one with no guts seems like an option, but I located a running driving Forestry Dodge (full four doors!!) with a D60 front (and a 7D70 rear I guess?) for a $1G, I guess that is the better deal?? Blazer parts are cool and coming along nice, and I too need to build a shop table/workbench, tired of the concrete floor takin' a beatin' every time I need to "work" on something!!


The RC's are way cool and can get crazy on the $$$/time investment as well!! I see we are all cut from mostly the same cloth, I am not nearly as "sick" as I thought I was, or at least there are others out there like me?! Looking good, can't wait for more progress picts?!

All the D60 parts are painted, just waiting on the Ballistic arms to show so I can proceed with assembly.

Well...I asked the guy why I was told it would ship on Friday when in fact it didn't and his answer was that one of the arms was missing the set screw on top and he only found that out later.

Even so, they could have done/offered a couple things IMO.
1) Send me an e-mail telling me about their snafu. (at the very least)
2) Upgraded my shipping to 2nd day air to make up for the lost time.
I got neither.

D60 tech note:
FYI to those about to change out the inner axle seals, know this.
Their a huge PITA...:lol:
Both pulling and installing without 'proper' tools.

Thanks but it's all done now.
A little Yankee Engineering and the next size BFH and it was game over.

Now it's all about making the existing inner axles except the full circle clips.

Are they different from a dana 44? When everything is out they are easy to remove with a long piece of pipe. As for installing i made a tool like this one to make them easier.

Similar.

That's what I used for removal, a 'long enough' piece of EMT conduit I had lying around.

I didn't have any threaded...anything big enough for the job at hand.
