Sounds like a plan on the arms. Why not just use Porterbuilts Foward Arms?

The engine is going to look outstanding with those webers!

I like the challenge of learning how, then trying to build my own parts when I think it's something I can tackle. Nothing against Poterbuilt, he make awesome parts!!

I'm planning on coating the carbs with PPG DX series aluminum conditioner to get this look. The stacks will be satin black and manifold will be Alpine Green like factory '66 327s, and I'll use either zinc plated steel lines or regular rubber fuel hose for more of a factory look.

Thanks, the air gauge is from a big truck, C60-C80 with air brakes. Nobody reproduces them so the classifieds here, eBay, Craigslist want ads, or junkyards are the only places to find one.

Body mount kit came in today, earlier than expected. Might get to start this weekend instead of next!

oh wow that intake is killer!! I was looking at doing a factory type three duece setup from a vette... but this is WAYYYY cooler. When this is done park beside mine as much as you can.... a background shot will be the only chance I'll have in the mags with this thing! HA!

Re: Project Goldilocks, '66 C10 SWB BBW Build

Hahaha whatever, by time I get this thing finished 60-66's will be out of style and you'll already have all the mag coverage tied up!

Nice, thanks for posting those! We nearly bought a '64 Vert that had been garaged for 30 years (no rust!) but the dude backed of the sale. :waah:

Thanks Dino! I'm diggin your blue/white '66 build!

I sold the front suspension and brake parts so I weighed it all while I had it pulled out. My digital scales have a 35 pound weight limit so I had to measure the heavy stuff with bathroom scales. It will be interesting (to me atleast) to see how much weight I can save with the rack and pinion kit, tubular arms, and CPP modular spindles.

  • Spindle/Rotor assembly- 55 pounds each / 110 pounds pair.
  • Caliper.- 10 pounds, 3.7 oz each / 20 pounds 7.70 oz pair.
  • Brake pads- 3 pounds, 10 oz set.
  • Stock coil springs- 11 pounds, 2.3 oz each / 22 pounds, 3.6 oz pair.
  • Upper A Arm- 9 pounds, 10.1 oz each / 19 pounds, 4.2 oz pair.
  • Lower A Arm- 25 pounds, 7.2 oz each / 50 pounds, 14.4 pounds pair.
  • Outer tie rod ends + adjuster sleeves- 2 pounds, 6.1 oz each / 4 pounds 12.2 oz pair.
  • Steering box, cross link, inner tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm, adapter bracket- 48 pounds.

Total weight- 279 pounds, 4.1 oz.

"MalibuKasey and I have been planning out building our own tubular A-arms that fix the lack of needed castor and camber adjustment that stock arms have and also move the wheel forward to center the wheel in the fenderwell while we're at it. I'm also going to look into taller C20 upper ball joints that will increase camber gain through the suspension travel, and possibly drop the upper A-arm cross bar mount for even more camber gain if its needed."

Don't tell me you 86'd this part of the project and decided to buy rather than redesign.
I was curious on what you came up with cause your always top notch.:metal:
I recently made a upper ball joint/a-arm mod and not sure if it will help or hinder my build.

I sold the stock parts to fund the parts to build my own arms and also for the No Limit rack and pinion. I'll post the A-arm build here, no worries!

Did a little parts shopping. Picked up an original offset stud driver side mirror that will replace the original (and hideous!) RV jr mirrors. Still need a passenger side arm and mirror head. Also scored a deal on a pair of NOS Custom sail plates.

nice finds, especially the cab sails! I need to find a set of mirrors like that for mine in the future. I plan to get rid of the dumbo style aftermarket mirrors which are also hideous! btw, where'd you find the Custom cab sails?

They were on eBay. I couldn't sleep one night and found them about 1:00AM, they had just been posted. I have "64 65 66 Chevy truck" saved in the eBay app to pull up newly listed items, my Paypal account would be in much better shape if I got rid of that!!

I love your builds. I went back the other day to your dodge build to get a refresher on blocking and what seam sealers you use. Your documentation on here is priceless.

That's my second late night catch! The other was a just-posted Marchal Amplilux headlight for $65 BIN, ten bucks shipping. I posted it on a Porsche forum and sold it for $175 plus shipping the same week... I'm still kicking myself for selling that one, I should have pieced together a pair for Goldilocks.

Really neat headlights from the 60's/70's. They have a separate bulb and reflector for low/high beams so each reflector and lens section is suited for the beam pattern.

I bought it from US Parts Outlet on ebay. Shipping was very quick, got here a few days sooner than expected. I couldn't find anyone local that had them.
