Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Thank you sir. Im trying to decide now if I want to paint the bowtie or just stop where I'm at. I think I like them just as they are. Other option is to go blue where the black is and just do black lettering on the Chevrolet script

Those covers are beautiful! Come to find out, that is the same color blue I used on my intake, side covers and valve cover!

Your engine looks great TJ.

I used the same color when I painted the 230 a few years back. Has held up great.

Yeah, that blue is a really nice engine paint. :metal: Keep up the good work!

Love the covers, all of them. If you did detail the script that would look great. What would you use a little brush?

Going to the junk yard tomorrow morning first thing so if I find any trucks of your body style ill let you know and pull what you want.

OK, thanks Austin. And get some pics too for our junkyard thread.

Thanks for the reply on the covers. Yeah, down to brush work if I do the lettering.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Imo, I like the bowtie/lettering if you keep it the way it is now or if you paint them. Maybe keep the polished look for the lettering to match the edelbrock lettering and paint the bowtie? Just tossin ideas out.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Thanks, I can always use ideas. I think I'm going to stop where i'm at. Sometimes things can be overdone, and I don't want to get there. Once they are on the engine and its completely dressed out i'll relook it. I have all chrome pulleys, polished stainless alt mounts, chrome engine mounts, and every hose I can get is AN stainless steel. The breather for the pass side is chrome w/a embossed bowtie, so I think I'll color match the bowtie to the covers.

I decided to leave the valve cover as it. I may do more detail later, but for now i'm satisfied. I got the grommet in last night and the detail work done on the breather. (painted the bowtie in the same blue to match the covers).

So this is where I'll stop on this one.

That valve cover is priceless! I'll bet if you tried to sell it you would get $400 for it!!! Gotta say...you have great painting skills! After seeing this I can't wait to see the truck!!!:metal:

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Thanks TJ. The majority of the work is prep & masking properly, the paint is the easy part.

I don't know what they'd fetch at auction, but I know they'll look good in the truck.

There is another set of finned valve covers that he had on there...I didn't mean the Edelbrock Valve covers...I meant the finned ones with the chevy bowtie in the center. I asked about those awhile ago...:chevy:
