Bought this today.
1986 GMC 4x4 swb, 2" lift. Totally straight except on small dent above the tail-light. NO RUST, has been in CA until this past year. Clear coat is flaking really bad though. Kid inherited it from his grandpa (might have been the original owner) and drove it from CA to here and then a little around town since then. He has no time, money, or interest in fixing a bad tranny (college kid). It was advertised that it didn't have reverse but all forward gears worked. But when I test drove it, it never got out of first. Oh well, I am replacing the tranny in the '86 long bed I already own with a high dollar tranny so that tranny will go in this one. Since I am going to make some major changes to my long-bed, I'll probably drive this one around until that one is done then sell this one. These are the only pictures I have until I get it home on Moday. |

I want a pre-WWII Chevy in original condition so bad. I'd love a pre-20s Baby Grand if I could find one... those old cars in original condition are so cool. They make about 30hp, go put put put down the road, stall out at the stoplight, and make everyone within a 500ft radius smile. Plus you could wear driving goggles, gloves, an English-style cap, and a long scarf. Too cool. But even cooler... a brass era Oldsmobile... 1900-1910! Yeah, I'm weird. ;) And BTW your truck is AWESOME. |

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds
Not sure? Those are the pictures the guy posted in the ad.
If I had to guess I'd say some where around the town of Snoqualmie; I know they have a lot of historic train stuff there. Quote:

Mr79C10, how does the truck ride?

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds
Ummm, After I put the 2" coils in. I really dont care for the hard bounce. I really whished I would of went with drop spindles vs the coils. But something I noticed. the rear after flipping it seams kinda "spongie"? If ya can understand that? Its a differ. feeling and I do have new shocks and I did install the drop hangers for the shocks too.

And YES a Brass Era car would be awesome!!! Thanks for the compliment on the truck. I have to admit after finishing everything up I have a little piece of me leaving with that truck:whine: Now that it is completely finished it looks amazing in person. When the sun hits it, it turns into a glowing fireball!! I wil miss it but on to bigger and better things.. |

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds
Thanks. I love this truck. Bought it on e-bay with no engine/trans/transfer. It had a Western snow plow bracket on the front and no bumper. I bought the new brackets and that bumper from LMC. I'm going to post a review about it on the board some day. The rest of that chrome was on it already, and I have no idea where the piece above the grill on the front of the hood came from, but I'd love to find out. Someday I have to peel all that off and re-paint.

Re: How about some pictures of '73-'87 short beds
It is an aftermarket hood protector. Not sure who made it, but I have seen them every now and again.
