Pic 1 I tried to take a pic of the date on this piece. It's from a 1927 Chevrolet roadster top. I ended up covering it in material for the inside of top.

Pic 2 Another view.

Pic 1 Here is the back section for the top. Center is covered in material, to the left and right are 2nd panels, smoothed out.

Pic 2 Close up view, they end up being covered the same as the main centerpiece was done. Only difference is the ends were folded back and stapled, then the entire piece is popped in place, using metal door clips.

Here is the outcome. Still need to make up the two side pieces.

Pic 1 Here the top is back on the truck and you can see what it looks like.

Pic 2 Another view. This isn't the way I wanted it to be, too many pieces on the side to suit me. I wanted it to be alsmost one piece, but I couldn't get it to work out for me. There were so many curves and angles, maybe next time.

Oldman that chevelle in the back ground looks a lot like one my brother built several years ago, He called it I RATe had a Rat fink on the rear trunk area.
I have been showing my Auto tech class your build they like it, we voted and decided to load mine on the trailer and haul it to you and let you finish it.

:lol:, yeah I wish I could get things done that fast, but I'm not a TV show. I agree with you about the roadster conversions, I've seen several I just did not care for. Thanks about my job, I spent a lot of time looking at real convertibles, to try and match that look. Picture of clips isn't good, can't get it to focus real close up.

Thanks, those are similar to the ones I was thinking about.

Joe, I've been following your glass build and they are doing a great job. Wish I had someone like you around when I was in school (oh so long ago). Yeah the Chevelle belonged to a friend called Scotty. He built the care here and painted in Orange, he sold it a few years back. Thank you for the kind words about my build, tell the class they need the practice and keep plugging away.....Jim.

Thanks for the thoughts. I talked to the POR rep. at a NSRA event, he said that as soon as you put on POR, mist a light coat of primer over it, before it dries, that way it is sealed with the POR. I used my regular PPG primer. My truck has been done for about 7 years, and the paint has never changed, holding up very well.......Jim

About two years ago I decided to update with larger wheels, but I wanted to maintain about the same height of old tires, so I went to a lower profile.

I took off 14X6 in front and replaced with 16X7 with 4" b.s. and 215/60/16 tire.
The old 15X7 rears and replaced with 17X8 with a 3-1/2" b.s. and 235/55/17 tire.

Here's a couple pics with the new set-up.

Well that's the end of my build, I have enjoyed posting this build. I also have a little surprise for you. We all have our favorite cars and trucks, but we like looking at just about everything. I redid a 67 Chevy pickup, long bed step side for a friend. Worked on it in 2005-2008. Truck has been on the road for about 2-1/2 years. I'm going to do a build on the 67-72 pickup forum(projects and builds), have about 800+ pics to post. It's built with the same detail as mine, with some body mods, and a very nice interior. If you want to follow along it will be titled JIMBO'S 67 LONG BED STEP SIDE BUILD. It might be a couple days till I post, checking out the pics. Hope to have you follow along. I appreciate all the feedback on my build and getting to know you guys. Thank you very much Jim. Oh, here's a before and after shot for a little teaser.

Jim... I always enjoy looking at your truck and am glad that you finally got the top completed! That looks absolutely awesome! I can't wait to see it in person at the streetrod nationals! You do absolutely marvelous work! You are the Boyd coddington and Chip Foose of southern Mo! To watch you work is parallel to watching a heart surgeon work on a heart attack patient! Thank you for this thread and sharing your talent!

Thank you for the very kind words. Compared to some of the builders on this site, I'm just an average joe........Jim

Hey oldman3 did you make it through the storms ok? My sister lives in Joplin 4 miles from the path of the tornado.

Hey Joe, thanks for asking. Must have weakened by the time it got here, just high winds and rain for about 40 mins. Hope all is well with the sister and family.....Jim

Thanks so much for the compliments. Been watching your build for sometime as a guest, before I became a member, and also on the HAMB. Like the way your doing yours.....Jim
