Looking good!

Hey Buck, what's the verdict on those axles? I considering ordering a set.

No, just the natural finish. I really should paint the hats, but you can look at my truck and see I'm not much for painting.;)

They fit well and the materials and construction appear to pretty nice. I think they will work fine, but some miles will be a better test. For $158 delivered they are worth a try. :metal:

Very nice truck!

I may have missed it in your thread but I am going to ask anyways. Where did you get your rear end housing? I have an original 67 under my truck and the width is going to require me to run spacers with just about any wheel I look at, unless I buy a custom wheel. It needs to be rebuilt anyways and if I could find a good housing I could buy a cheaper wheel that I like and afford to fix the rear end. Therefore I have been trying to find a wider rear end. Thanks!

I was originally going to build a '70 swb fleet starting with just a frame and a cab. I bought a rolling swb chassis that was a '70 model and had the wider rear axle housing. I am sure you can find one in a salvage yard near you. Good Luck!

Very nice, what kit did you use?

C10_ustacould 02-22-2013 10:16 PM

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Shawn, I used the 1967-70 Rear Disc Brake Kit 5-lug w/ E-brake, kit (6772RWBK-5E) from CPP. Probably 75% complete but I am taking the night off, I'll finish up tomorrow.

Good deal Buck. Don't forget to change your proportioning valve :D

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

I think I'm going to do the proportioning valve (pv) mod to my existing pv. Read about on the CPP site.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

The jury is still out on my proportioning valve mod, the brakes seem spongy to me. I am done for today, will bleed them some more in the morning and see if I will need to order a disc/disc pv.

I am happy with the wheel placement and the disc brakes look much better than the big ugly drum!

It's funny you say that, I am thinking about doing a thread about all of the things I believe I've done wrong on this build. Now I need some PB parts to center the rear wheels too, I guess I'm going to have to contact Nate directly.

Thanks, I am trying my best to build a solid driver. You never know, when Rob gets his LS swap done we may just swing down your way for a visit!
