well I thought I would have an update to post with pics of the rear disc brakes, and other stuff I have bought! but the guy I got the rear disc from on ebay sent me 5 lug rotors Saturday mourning had them waiting for me when I got off work! and after letting him know of the error by Saturday at 5pm. he send me a tracking number with the 6 lug rotors! also waiting on cpp 32in. steel paintable tilt steering column! ( not sure if I want to put my 3in. shorthened og column in or have tilt! I got some fittings coming in for the transmission cooler also from others on ebay! also clear chrome dome light housing and led light bulb, headlight harness with built-in relays from lmc! all which sould be here by this next weekend!

sidenote, ill be selling the 5 lug drilled an slotted rotors ( if anyone local on here wants them other then that ill be putting them on craigslist) hope everyone has a good memorial day weekend

yes Clem every Friday is test and tune night!! once I get the truck up and running, i'll take it to the strip!! my brother in law keeps telling me that I need to go on Friday's to see some street/strip cars and trucks, I totally agree Tulsa suits us fine, lots of things to do, good jobs, I'm glad we moved!!

I have been thinking one way or another my truck will be at your next get-to-gether on a trailer or driving!!

ok guys some progress, and more pics!! got the rear disc brakes put on (will be taking off again to install wheel bearings and seals next weekend)!! got the plain 32" tilt steering column from cpp, got pics of the carpet (its a light blue) like the door panels I painted, pics don't do it justice!! got my stud gun from hf to pull some dents out,

pics of carpet,

also I checked my 6 lug rallys with these disc brakes, looks like i'll be narrowing the other 12 bolt rearend by 4 inches, if I stay with drum brakes I can just add 4 inches to the back of the rims! but with these calipers that have the built in e-brake the bracket with the spring might have to be shaved a lil on the corner, or something! will still have to check some more on this!!!

chad64chevy 06-01-2014 07:43 PM

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

also next weekend ill upgrade the wheel studs to 1/2" studs and paint the axle face, when I'm doing the wheel bearings and seals!

Shipping is why I have been reluctant to buy a hood, don't want it damaged. I'm gonna take a trip sooner or later and pick one up somewhere's.

I did get some work done welded in my c-notches made some 1/4" plates at work to kind of box them in they sit in about 1/2"-5/8" from outside lip! will have those welded up tomorrow after work! today is fathers day an my dad is up here so the whole family is just going to hang out, go out to eat, etc. no truck time today

chad64chevy 06-15-2014 10:13 AM

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

the welds could have looked better but I was pushing it with the Hobart welder welding 1/4" plate, and trying to fill in some of the gaps that the cpp notches had to my frame, should have got a torch and heated it up to get the gaps a lil closer, but don't have one yet! but im going to fill it all in grind fill grind fill, get it all smooth and looking good!

you're doing good dude. welds look strong.

and a big happy fathers day to you, and your dad.

the road trip we're planning is 'pistons and paint' its early in november. a couple of weeks after the cruise-in at my place. so, keep working on your truck and even if stuff gets in the way... roll it up on a trailer and get it there.

ok so I got an update, been repainting the back half of the frame! but mostly I took out the 7/16" wheel studs and put in dorman #310-327 studs they are 1/2" and they work with 2007 lug nuts so they will work with the caps that go with my stock 2007 rims!
I also took out the old bearings and seals an put in new bearings and seals don't have the bearing part number but do have the seals part number! i also welded in the notches on the inside an got them painted, painted my brake calipers and the axle ends! anyways here is some pics

thanks don, it sure was fun for me an the kids, the wife not so much she sprained her ankle pretty good! black and blue about two fingers width and length right about the heel bone, she is healing up slowly

well enough about that, I haven't really done much to my truck since I did a lil grinding on the back of the cab an found more rust that will need patching! was a lil depressed seeing it, an they don't make patches for what I need so yesterday at work I found some scrap 2x2 1/4" square tubing and some 1-1/2x1-1/2 angle iron and welded them together, long story short it will work like an aftermarket piece would! I think it would work better really, since I made it, lol! I still need to cut up some metal for the patches and try it out! I will get pics of the jig I made and after I get some metal bend up for the rust!

so in to the rust pics!!

Looks like the cab corners from the pics, which they do make a small patch for. I have some good portions on the back of my donar cab if I knew what your looking for size wise

I know its hard to tell from the pics but, the cab corners will only do a small portion! the patches im going to have to make are from the cab corner angle up to where it levels out at the cab mount on both sides! length wise is like 2- 8" strips length by 4" wide with the bend for the spot welds! then like one that's 4"x4"

I can get some better pics for you to get a better idea, but I really think I can make the patches

thanks clem!

I'm sorry guys I haven't been doing anything to my truck lately! that has to do with the fact I has switched to second shift at work two weeks ago and I'm assembling those big A$$ coolers now! a lot cleaner when I come home and less stressful, also had to spend about $500 on tools for work and buy a roll away! so haven't bought anything for the truck either!! I'll try and get some stuff done this weekend or this next weekend!!
