Jim, Mine brought me to work today. I honestly have more fun driving it than going to the shows. Best part is talking to the people that have stories on riding in one when they were a kid and so on.

Hey guy, this week-end, my son Mark and I drove to Springfield for the Route66 Festival. Had a great time, met some great people and saw some really nice cars. About 240 miles round trip and enjoyed the day. I've posted some pics in the event forum here is the thread if you want to take a look http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=7276816

Been a busy day, so I'm posting late. Anyhow, I had the pleasure meeting Ray (Indian 113) and his great wife Eve this past weekend. We meet up at the RV park just north of town. After talking for awhile I took Ray to my house and we took a ride in the pickup (top off), showed him some of the projects my son is working on. Also showed him Marks pickup with the dash modes. Then back to the motor home.
On Sunday I picked up Ray and Eve and we went to visited by wife at the nursing home. Then we did some site seeing around the area, had dinner and then we had to call it a day.
They left Monday morning heading back home to Iowa. Had been on vacation and wanted to stop by on they way back. These are great people and we hit it off from the start. If you ever have a chance to meet board members, I would say go for it, you would be surprized how great it is. I feel so honored that they went out of their way to stop by and visit with me. Only took a couple pics, but here's Ray and me (I'm the old bald guy)...Jim

Always good to put faces to names and meet in person. Hope to do it myself when I get the truck running.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

The pleasure of the Visit was ALL Mine! We put around 4000 miles on the Motorhome and visiting Jim and his Wife wasn't out of the way. We had planned to go to the Ozarks on our way and he lives close to Branson.

Riding in Jim's Roadster was over the top for me. I have fallen in love with that Truck through the pictures and read his build thread over and over. Jim is a perfectionist and the work he does shows it. If anyone gets a chance to see it up close you'll see what I mean.

I have tried to meet as many of our board members I can, if you do you'll find that we not only have a common bond with Trucks but in many other things.

Jim. God only made so many perfect heads-the rest he put Hair on!

Thanks Again for Finishing off a Wonderful Vacation!

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

It is great you all were able to get together. Almost all the people I've met over the years that work on their vehicles are pretty good folks. I met up with a member down in Evansville couple weeks ago to buy a transmission and we had a great day in his shop. Good guy!

Hopefully Jim one of these days we will make it over too.

Hope you guys and gals are ready for another of my trips. At least once a year a few of us get together and cruise down to Gaston's Resort in Arkansas. It's about 170 miles round trip, is in the Ozarks so nice views, and lots of curves, which I enjoy, just a nice trip. We have bunch at Gaston's, watch some planes, go to the dam, and then back home. Hope you enjoy the pics.

It's amazing how many planes land here, eat and then take off.

Pic 2 Going down the strip.
Pic 3 Finally off the ground about 3/4 way down.
We watched 5 planes take off and all the rest where up just past the picnic tables.
Pic 4 Front of Gaston's, it has 3 levels.

Pic 3 My GPS with the milage, etc. Left about 8:00 this morning and got back to my house at 3:00 p.m.

Thanks Doug,
Cruising with friends makes it fun. Cloudy and overcast all day. Started out about 50* then got to around 60*, but with friends, your in your ride, can't make it much better. Driving them is what it's all about...Jim

Thanks Ray, I agree about the driving. Coming back home there were two of us together, running two lane blacktop, just got into a groove engine rpm, etc. Made me think the first 50 miles from West Plains to Gainesville, was the same road you drove to get to West Plains from Branson (160),last 50 for you, so you know the road, hills and curves;)...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

We are going to try and get down again next summer, Eve says we have to tear up those roads and ride the curves. I don't know how to get the truck and the Harleys down there at the same time!!
